Blog not appearing in SERPS

Hi,

I posted some articles on my blog, and then I put them on ezines like I have done before. But this time my blog does not show up at all in SERPS. I was wondering if its because of the new G algo? Does anyone think spinning the articles is going to help and re publishing them?

    When did you add the new articles? Have you been backlinking or doing SEO on the blog recently?

      Hi, well they were accepted on ezine about 2 days after they were on my blog. Only backlinking I have been doing was with AMR. My blog is indexed just not in SERPS.

          That I do not actually know. I would have thought about 2 days was long enough.

            It depends on how regularly your site's updated (and for how long the updating pattern's been established and reliable) ... search engines go through their own learning-curve about "indexing stuff": the more regularly and reliably you update, the more often you're indexed.

            I do check that mine are indexed before submitting them to EZA. It doesn't matter all that much in any individual case, perhaps, but the collective, long-term SEO benefit of doing so is unquestionable (by anyone who's really tested it properly).

                I don't see why? Seems like a lot of work, to me ... I never do. I'd just check they're indexed (they might have been, we're only theorising, here!). All you need to do is paste a ten-word chunk (preferably the end of one sentence and the start of the next) into Google between inverted commas, and if it shows up, it's been indexed.

                I don't know to what extent these things vary, but mine are indexed within 24 - 48 hours ... I suspect sometimes sooner ... but some of mine are bigger, content-rich sites and reasonably well-established now, which might help(?).

                Good luck with the next ones, anyway.

                  Yes they show up on the WP blog and EZA using the method you described, however the WP blog is not ranked at all.

                    Hmm, that is concerning. (Clearly it's indexed, though.) Let's hope it's just "Google dance" and will bounce back. Is it a new-ish site?

                    Certainly, the more content you have indexed on it before submitting anywhere else, the more cumulative SEO benefit it will get from that.

                    Sometimes, when my sites have been pretty new, the EZA copy of an article - even published after my copy's indexed - has still temporarily displaced mine from the SERP's; this is temporary, though, and the more content you get on your site the less likely it is to happen, and for shorter periods each time.

                      Yes its a new one. I built it in about 1 day about a week ago.

                        I'm pleased to hear that, because that enormously increases the chance that this is just a "Google dance" and it will either bounce back, or just gradually climb back - to where it was or higher. And that it isn't much to worry about. Pretty common with a week-old site, in fact (I should have asked that first! ).

                            Hi,

                            I have been able to find it in google blog search but not the main search. Does anyone know why that is happening? I am thinking it could be because the content got indexed on ezine before it was indexed on my blog, although I did put it on my blog first.

    It can take a while before your blog is indexed, depending on the content and backlinks. Just keep plugging away. You'll get indexed eventually. If you're that worried about it, check your robots.txt

    What I think your article may be not passing by copyscape means it's not unique. It should be unique and fresh. After that you have to do optimize your blog.
