This sucks! This was actually the way google wanted you to get ranked unlike many other methods this is how I got a ton of sites ranked 1st because they actually gave you the related keywords they thought were suitable. Guess we'll have to see what happens now.

The Wonderwheel was great for finding LSI keywords. I'm hoping it comes back in some shape or form. (I'm guessing Google looked at the statistics and found that it mainly being used by marketers.)

I've always been surprised that Google allows the Google keyword tool to be public, without a credit card purchase (Adwords).

Don't they realize that tool alone is what thousands of IMers do keyword research with, without ever considering paying for Adwords?

They're smarter than you might think, realizing that giving things away for free (with the right approach) can & will grow their business.

I have been using keyword sniper instead of the wonder wheel for some time now. It doesnt really get related or lsi keywords, it scrapes the suggestions when you are typing in a serch term into google.

It works really well if you know what suffixes and pefixes to use with it.

There was also some other program called Keyword Snatcher I think, It wasnt the same as wonder wheel but it worked ok. I think its discontinued now though.

yea i just noticed the wonder wheel is gone too

....so pretty much all keyword research tools that relied on this as a keyword source are now broken.

Don't think anyone has mentioned it yet, but google insights is a decent tool, though not a replacement for the wonder wheel. Search for google insights for a link.

i agree with Marty, if they don't offer the keywords for free that you have to buy to advertise on anyways, then no one would use it. That would be almost like having to pay at the door to get into the grocery store.

I got one before it aged and matured and it was pretty cheap.

I know that the stated reason was so that they could brand everything appropriately. However, I am going out on a limb (don't stone me for this).

It would seem to me that they do want to encourage writing for keyword searches; and that they want to encourage good content writing. To that end, the Wonder Wheel does not anything that you can't get with the "Related Searches" tab.

Related Searches at several glances does not seem as thematic as the Wonder Wheel. So I think using it, to get the theme of a keyword; you are losing something there.

And it is also my guess that it could change based on results from Google Instant. It might be nice for some one to run a linear regression model to see how many times google instant words can be found in the related searches area.

Long shot theory I know.
