hi i purchased a domain a while back: chessandlearning.com.

basically, this was before i had any idea what a keyword was, or the relevance of the domain name based on targeting traffic etc.

basically this is a chess site, there will be lessons and content related to it there. what could be said about the domain name though? the length, the inclusions of the word and, etc.

what would be the expert advice with it?

im pretty much stuck with it for now but would like to know insights.

thanks.

Keyword domains can have a good result for the exact match. Really though you want to be creating backlinks and optimising yur site with the keywords so you have some good exposure in the learning chess niche. The fact that you have a .com keyword domain is just a bonus.

I think that as there is no hyphens in the phrase having the and in it doesn't really make any difference. I'm prety sure it will be seen as one word in the first instance.

      Hi

Personally I wouldn't get too hung up on your domain name. What you have there is domain name using a stop word, in this case 'and'.

So when the domain was registered chess learning/ learning chess was taken. However by adding a stop word like 'and' it made it possible to get those two keywords in the domain.

A stop word is one that the search engines ignore. So words like and, if, but, the, this etc etc.

Now once upon a time exact match domain names were the holy grail this is becoming less and less the case.

Haveing an exact match domain with a site full of great content will likley get brownie points with Google. Having a site lacking in substance and an exact match domain will less and less bring the rewards that it once did.

Google wants quality authority sites not sites with a few articles on with an exact match domain

Your site looks like it will fit the bill to me as an authority site. So don't worry about the name crank out great content with lot's of variety if you can. By that I mean content that is diverse like video, screenshots and audio along with varied length articles.

      Good luck

If you are stuck with it then don't worry about it. But now you need a good SEO plan to get your site moving in the serps for the proper keywords. The domain alone won't get the job done. good luck to you and your site.
