Why are adsense ads Inactive?

I have logged into my adsense account and have found some of my adsense ads inactive. I know that a few of them that I simply took off my sites. However there are some that I never took off my site, are still showing on my site, but are showing inactive in my adsense account.
I normally use 2 adsense blocks per site, but my account is showing that 1 of the ad units as inactive on a few of my sites. Can anyone explain why this would be? No advertisers at the moment? Maybe someone here can help out with this. Thank you all.

    They are marked as inactive if they receive no impressions for a certain timeframe. I dont know what that amount is but I think its a month.

    So if you have ad code on a page that gets no views, then it too will be marked inactive.

    Its not a big deal, its just telling you that its not getting shown.

      Not too sure if it's a case of zero views, before Ad is marked inactive....have seen Ads marked Inactive that were receiving views, though, a much lower % of Ad impressions than much higher performing Ad units...

      If the "time frame" rule is true, it is far shorter than a months inactivity.. it may even be a day, or even an hour...

      Or, it could be that, low % performing Ads, are blocked from third parties( bidders request)....

      It may even be a tech glitch with the Ad code, due to java script, as I have seen Ads vanish and need a refresh to reactivate Java...

    codes that not load dring specific time decided by google goes to inactive list. You may have that ad code on active page but with zero traffic ..
