Ok, i have a question about finding good keywords. When i use google adwords keyword tool i get most obivus keywords, that has HUGE competition and everyone is going for. I would like to know how can i find long tail keywords or how are called keywords with much less competition.

Thanks.

    Hi true900,

Going for "long tail" keywords, in this context, means going for many lower volume keywords in addition to your primary, higher volume keywords.

A great way to do this is to select the "Only show ideas closely related to my search terms" check box. This will give you many keywords that include your primary keyword within a phrase. By optimizing for these "closely related" keywords you are simultaneously optimizing for your primary keyword.

Sounds like you need Keyword Sniper Pro 2.0 from Jack Duncan. Check it out - it'll be a great 'cure' for your 'symptom' of not being able to find good long-tail keywords.

The Adwords Keyword Tool actually hides some of the valuable keywords from you, which would explain why you're not able to see them.

The characteristic of a long tail keyword is that fewer people will be searching for that keyword phrase.

I use Market Samurai for analyzing competition. However, it's advisable to do as dburk said and go for long-tail keywords.

Well, you need the service which can show you similar keywords to your main keyword, and also research your competitors to take their words too. Take MS for that or Semrush, they both have trial versions.

Of course just good ol fashion critical thinking helps. "What else might someone type into Google?"

Google also provides plenty of ideas for other terms people search for in their keyword tool. You can also search blogs and forums on the topic and see what other keywords people may have been targeting.

Google cheats big time on their keyword finder, it's worthless. I have a Google analytics page on a website that was getting 75K generic hits a month for a specific keyword that had ZERO adwords ads. I hopped into my adwords account and during the process of creating an ad I clicked on the button that tells you how much estimated traffic you can expect. It came back and told me there was insufficient data to make an analysis.

So I finished the ad and looked at the dashboard and low and behold, it said I needed to be at $3.50 for a first page placement for that keyword. Were they lying the first time? You bet they were. They knew how much traffic that keyword was generating and confirmed it with the recommendation in the dashboard. I bid .10 and was on page one. They lie about all of that stuff, I don't trust them anymore.
