Testing International Domain Names

Recently I'v been testing targeting traffic from different countries using the same website/domain but different extension ie.. com.au, .co.nz, .co.uk, and more recently .ph (Philippines) and seem to be starting to see some success.

I did have my domain just as a .com, but was finding it hard to get to the top of Google / stay on Google competing with everyone. But since buying the different domains I am finding it alot easier to get on the top/front page of Google in the different countries with the local domain and competing on a more local level, and I seem to have lots less competition or no competition in the case of .ph. And with .com.au I am on the front page for many of the keywords i was trying to target on the .com with little or no success.

I know some of you are thinking why .ph (Philippines), I targeted this because I found about 25% of my Facebook Fans were from this country.

EG Traffic from the last month testing:
.com - 2,556 visitors
.com.au - 18,699 visitors
.co.uk - 1,783 visitors
.co.nz - 1,935 visitors
.ph - 213 visitors (2 weeks old)

My only concern is having duplicated content... I have tried to make the sites slightly different in the way of being seasonal for that area (summer, winter, spring, major events). Dose anyone have any advice for this? or tried country targeting?

Maybe targeting a different country will give you better results for your market?
