301 Redirect Value

Hullo all, I have a question on redirect value that I'm hoping someone can help me with.

We run a number of websites, of which there is one main retail site. We want to remove one of the lesser sites which has a pr of 3 - would it be worthwhile simply using a 301 redirect from that site to the main retail one?

      OK - so in this instance a 301 redirect would de nothing because the site it is being directed to is already well established?

        301 redirection is best solution, it helps visitors from your old url to new url.
