Hi everyone,
I'm new to the site and relatively new to internet marketing and site building. I tend to do a great deal of research on google and Warriorforum turned up a great deal of knowledge over the past few weeks; but, every time I try to find ways of promoting my site I get inundated with so much information. Backlinks and generating true content seem to be the basic methods of site promotion. I'm not looking for instant results and I don't mind working for them.
1. Is there a comprehensive guide or list of places to go for posting your own backlinks?
2. I'm hesitant to purchase backlinks as I see good reviews and bad reviews. Can someone provide me with some input on these two questions please?
3. When can I expect to see results (via traffic and/or PR)?

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

If there is no rush then add good content and do guest post on the blogs related to your niche and comment their post legally with name and url.And involve in social media.

But does listing your URL in comments actually help your ranking in the major search engines?

Well said. The much quality content you will provide to your site the more better rankings and quality traffic you will get. Don't try to buy backlinks because those backlinks are not of good quality and will not work well for you. You can hire any SEO worker as well for your site for instant betterment.

Rocky, should I focus on quality content and not my keywords; or, should I be focusing on getting my keywords integrated into the content effectively.

You should focus on quality content and your keywords. They shouldn't be either or kinds of things.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Again, not expecting overnight results, but how long until I start seeing some results via traffic?

It depends on several factors like how many approximate searches/month are there for your keyword, how well they convert and how good the offers are, etc.

    hey m8

here are a few things that may help you when it comes to promoting a new site and getting more traffic to it

    1. make regular new posts - update your blog regular that way the spiders keep coming back to crawl your content, not only that google likes active blogs (do this for a good few months and you will start to see some good traffic daily in no time)

    2. forums - as long as there are some good forums for the niche that your in, then start being active in there, forums are very highly targeted traffic

    3. social bookmarking - social bookmark your blog and start building some social media links to it

    4. set up a fan page or group page around your site linked to a facebook profile and be active on there too then you can funnel a lot of that traffic to your blog

    5. build a list - include an opt in form on your blog and build a list by giving away some good value. make sure its very good value and dont just peddle the same garbage as most people in order to get there name and email, then once you have some new content to share you can leverage your list, send them to your blog to see it and get them interacting on your blog too

doing this creates the sheep effect, if a few people comment and interact then even more people will. The more active your blog is the more traffic google wil send your blog

    hope this helps

Pay $20 and issue a press release using webwire.com. Best $20 you'll spend as you'll get targeted traffic and backlinks. Make it easy to share your content. Ask for it to be shared, etc.

Use reputable link building networks (I use BMR) and you should be fine if you want to pay for links.

Guest blogging is another great way to get targeted traffic and backlinks.

    Good luck!
