    Hey copernic,

    Let me point out first that there is a small problem with the fundamentals of your question itself. You are asking about the Pagerank of Sites not pages. Every webpage has it's own PageRank - don't confuse the PR of the homepage of a website as some value that every page on the site will hold. Every page on the website has its own PR.

    I am not sure if you are planning on profile creation or blog commenting, but if you are making a profile this will be on a brand new page made for your account. This means a page with PR 0 that will appear in your toolbar as PR n/a because it has not been measure and reported yet. This will be a very weak link. If you are blog commenting, concentrate only on the PR of the actual page you are commenting on.

    Personally, I don't put the emphasis on edu and gov sites that some do because I don't believe that domain extensions effect SEO (besides country codes). I think your time would be better spent targeting high PR pages or popular pages with relevant content to your keyword. A relevant link will do more for your ranking than a link from some webpage that has nothing to do with the page you are building links to.

    @Benjackson

    Some profile backlinks or inner pages have a high page rank as domain. I always check them through tools.

    Use this code to find edu backlinks : site:.edu inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "your keyword here"

      Some have said (R*D*) that edu and gov links are worth 10x com/org/net links. Others say they're the same. In my experience, a solid edu/gov link with your keyword for anchor text is a good thing to get... not 10x good, but useful. I typically throw these in the mix with the rest of my backlinking efforts. I do believe that if google sees too many links coming from just edu and/or gov, they will wonder if something's up. Don't know if anyone's been sandboxed for building exclusively edu links, but with google getting more aggressive about penalizing sites with unnatural linking patterns, it's better to just mix it up.
