Another Page Rank Update? or a Rollback? Some analysis

Hi Guys,

Just came across another Page Rank Update today. Can't say it is a rollback. As the page rank updated for some of websites is still same and for some of them went down or up. It looks strange. Some interesting data is shown below.

Following data is for different websites:

June Update - 0 to 4 and now n/a (A profile page on website)
June Update - 0 to 4 and still 4 (Internal page of a website)
June Update - 3 to 4 and now again 3 (Home page)
June Update - 2 to 3 and now 4 (Home page)
June Update - 4 (no change) and still 4 (No change)

Following data is for same website (single domain):

Homepage - June update - 3 to 4 now 3 again
Internal page of same website - June update - 0 to 4 and still 4
Many other internal pages are still same page rank as updated in June update.

It looks strange.

How is it working with you guys? And what do you think about this update?

August 05 2011 - Saw changes in PR today again. Another Page rank update is here?

It seems like a roll back to me, many of the sites that I noticed have rolled back to the original PR number.

Good question. If some one knows such tool?

I use SEObook toolbar, and checked PR by visiting internal pages of my sites.

This is without a doubt a new update and NOT a rollback.

I have hundreds of sites with PageRank, ranging from smaller all the way up to very large PR sites.

I have sites that have received NEW PageRank #'s outside of what they were on the most prior update. Thus - no way it was only a PR rollback.

Some PR did "rollback" but others kept it, or received new PR. I also have internal pages that changed/gained PR that didn't have it on the last two updates.

I think you misunderstand what a rollback would be. it would Not be a roll back to the past it would be a roll back to what it would be now if there were not something screwy about the last PR UPDATE.

The last PR update in June had some strange numbers. Some site that went to PR4 from 0 would not have normally got that PR (sorry for the people selling WSOs - and sorrier for those who bought them- on how to bump your PR overnight). They just didn't have the links for it. Some other sites dropped in Pr when they had the links to be higher than what they were.

Now today those pages that had been PR4 got rolled back to whatever they would be at this time. they may qualify for PR1 but its still a roll back from that Strange PR update a month ago.

    Ok,

I run a large private PR blog network for my own backlinking needs.

I had a lot of sites with PR3 and 4 that went to mostly PR2 last PR update and some went from PR3 to 4 and one went from PR4 to 6 lol

So all in all, some sites lost PR and only a couple gained PR

I am checking PR in my entire network right now to see the latest update.

    Will post some feedback shortly

I have hundreds of domains... I am seeing diverse effects. Most seem unchanged, some up and some down... I do not think its a rollback whatsoever... however I wonder if google is going to be doing regular PR updates, as this is the first time I have seen 2 PR updates so close to each other

This is the same thing I was thinking, I'm wondering if this is something new. My gut tells me that this is an exception to fix whatever they "broke" the last go around.

On My Initial Analysis it looks like a half-rollback.

I got some PR back, but some sites have still decreased by 1 rank.

Some domains that went up in pr initially last update have gone back to the way they were before and 1 site increased to PR5 from PR4

I think there was a bit of a screw up last PR update somewhere as I noticed ALOT of sites across the web, mine and other peoples that went to PR2 across the board.

Im sure others would have noticed a lot of sites become PR2 from 0 and from 3 to 2

Possible but unlikely. they have been downplaying the importance of PR too much to start updating it every month. Its more likely that either the june update was buggy OR they are playing around with the PR to make people less reliant on it and to throw a big wrench in the link buying game that is often based on PR.

Just sit back and enjoy folks. Google is obviously making some adjustments.

PR is nothing to get your pee hot over. It is what it is. No matter how much you complain, it's not going to change.

Google AdWords | Ad Words | Google Advertising | Auckland (PR 4) and Google Analytics | Omniture | Auckland | New Zealand | NZ (PR 4) and many other internal pages.

and then home page PR (3). [ Now again got PR 4 (5 Aug 2011)]

PR is Page Rank not Site Rank. It is very easy to end up with a internal pages with higher PR than the home page. I have quite a few of them and have see lots more. It all depends on the link profile of the pages in question. Now most people end up getting more links to their homepage but having internal pages with higher PR than the homepage is a lot more common than you think, both before and after this last update.

But with no broad updates for almost a year... it's wild what's going on.

Strange.. I show google as n/a in my toolbar (WebRank SEO), which is where my PR3 site went to as well. But.. when I go to prchecker (dot) info, Google shows as a 10/10 and mine as a 3.

    Who's right?

I had a similar surprise - a site that's not even a full 2 months old and only a handful of articles on it hit PR2 today. Wonder what will happen when I actually get some time to work on it!

This is the result of the new Panda Update. Some sites rollback and others gain high PR. My two blogs without promoting it, gain PR on Google without efforts to link build. My .com site is still on its rank. Fresh and unique contents that is valued by the latest updates.
