How to Climb over nasty customer review sites?

Well, I have a FEW of the nasty customer review sites in my way to the top.
And I mean the top nasty ones that have been accused of breaking Google rules, seem to be a link Farm and have had several people write huge articles about how nasty they are! But what if you have to climb over them to reach the top?? Has anyone been there done that?? The more research I do the more I see how big they are but..........what if they are targeting a LOW or lower competition keyword........there must be a way over them! Looking for bright ideas........

    Usually those competitors don't last that long.

    I'd recommend building up your site as much as you can over the coming months. Focus on white hat linkbuilding and methods that will allow you to stick once you get to the top spots.

    It varies greatly by industry/keywords, for example I usually like to recommend guest blogging to gain some credibility/backlinks. I've had sites in which I've guest blogged as a backlink method and its helped me gain credibility in my niche, traffic from the blogs I guest posted on, backlinks, and best of all SALES!

    Don't just go on a guest blogging rampage though. Create a list of blogs in your niche and then sort them based on PageRank, traffic, and how well established/credible they are. Start with the ones at the bottom (if a tough niche) and work your way up to the best blogs. All it takes is one or two guest posts to really get the ball rolling.

      I refuse to give them any link juice! Customers write in and complain.....
      they can take over keywords over night with one complaint.

        That's a completely different strategy than I outlined above. What you are looking for is reputation management.

        Outranking sites like ROR requires a well executed plan, and a budget. I've personally managed a ton of reputation management campaigns and I'll give you a quick breakdown of an easy to implement (albeit expensive!) strategy.

        1. Find a popular .ay per blog post platform
        2. Search for blogs with HIGH PageRank that you can pay to place a post on. Look into their backlinks to make sure that they are in fact valid PR domains.
        3. Setup an amazing post that has a kick-ass title that people will want to click on in the search results for your business name
        4. Pay for the post & do this 5-10 times on different blogs. Make sure that all the articles are different in one way or another. Don't link to your site from these articles, maybe just one or two.
        5. Begin a massive paid link campaign with HIGH PageRank links to these blog posts. Again, make sure you link to the blog posts and not these blogs homepage. Use your "business name" as the keyword, or whatever anchor text these ROR postings are coming up from.
        6. Then proceed with a normal linking campaign, and throw in a little bit of social (Twitter tweets, ReTweets, Facebook Likes, Google +1's, etc.)

        You'll beat out ROR within 3 months, give or take, with this strategy.

    You are going to need some high PR links to your site to beat them. Go buy a list of high PR blogs to comment on or if you have the money buy a couple high PR domains and point them at your site.
