No, I have never heard of quality score mechanism. But I think you may have misunderstood what I was asking. I want to create an AdSense site, where I have some good content and some ads, and try to make some money from the ads. I was wondering if $3.60 approximate cpc was an indication that this keyword would or wouldn't make decent money per click. Any advice is wanted, thanks.

$3.60 is decent. I'm not sure but I think Google pays 50% of the cost of the ad to publishers, meaning you would get approximately $1.80 per click on an ad related to that keyword, which is relatively good. How many exact searches does this keyword have?

I am considering two different keywords, both have basically the same cpc but one has 1,900 exact searches and one has 8,100. Not sure which I should go after. They are targeting the same thing. Thanks.

Check their competition. Look at their SERPs and see if the top 10 results are properly optimized for the keywords. You can use some tools to help you with this (Traffic Travis, Market Samurai, etc).

Your website also gets a QS similar to adwords. You will not make
top dollar out of the gate. You don't have a site with history for
high rollers to bid on. Plus, the content network is at least half
generally as a starting point. So that puts a high paying click
at $1.80, which gives you about a buck. But, to start out,
you'd be lucky to get 25 cents until your site deserves better
and higher paying ads.

You are making the mistake most people make. They look at CPC
instead of how much they are willing to do to create content and get
a massive amount of targeted visitors. Just because you build it,
does not mean they will come, put high paying ads on your site,
then click.

Any niche can make money and lots of it. This is hard for people to
grasp. So they make some xyz.com MFA piece of crapola and think
google is just waiting to put a $50 ad on their site. Nothing could
be further from the truth.

Create a site with a subject you love, know about, or at least
will devote a LOT of time researching and developing it. And
then be patient.

Over time, your site will be targeted with higher paying ads.

But then again, maybe it won't.

There is no minimum CPC to build a site for.

I am planning on building a site with great content, and it is in a niche that I am very passionate about. I am not expecting any get rich quick site or anything like that. But before I start creating it, I just wanted to do as much research about it as possible. Thanks for the advice.

I don't think it's true that new sites get lower paying ads. I've started up some adsense sites in the past and have found the same ads on them that appear on authority sites in the same niche.

try using an exact match domain name niche site, google ranks a little bit higher for the exact match right from the beginning. Which could lead to higher CPC payout. If you are set on your keyword choice see if you can match the domain.

I normally check spyfu for the cpc instead of using the amount from GKT. Also spyfu will show how many advertisers which is something you can consider, the more advertisers the higher they bid.

different keywords have a different CPC you can check keywords and there avg CPC with the google adwords tool or spyfu.com has a great one as well
