Smashing out a wordpress niche site

Posted this in the main forum - meant to post it here...


I am looking to put together a few wordpress healthy eating sites and are after some advice on just what you think I should include?

Broken down into :-
What plugins - including the obvious?
What affialte offers do you think would work best?
Adsense or not?
What theme?

If you already have sites in this niche, maybe you could offer some advice?

From scratch, what then would you prioritise with regards SEO, in order please?

I do have my own take on all this but would really like to know what you guys are doing, maybe in other niches that you have had good results with.

    All in one SEO
    W3 Total Cache

    Adsense - yes, just 2 ad blocks tho is enough

    Theme - any theme you like that is clear with a simple layout will do. I go with woothemes as they look very nice

    regaards to seo - content , content , content

    Have lots of articles ready for posting or make sure you can write at least 1 per day.

    Some social bookmarking, blog commenting, article submission and guest posting will be enough to climb the rankings if you are just aiming for a low competition niche.

    Theme is important, I'd suggest Clickbump Engine for Adsense or a niche review site.

    Depending on your specific keywords, look into whether there are affiliate products to be promoted or the CPC for potential Adsense earnings and just see which would likely be more profitable and sensible.
