H1 tag on logo header

With my WP theme, my homepage header has its h1 tag on the title logo. Is this bad for SEO? I heard that the h1 tag should be put on the title of the post/page.

    <title>Title of Site</title> -->title tags for title/logo.

    Every post should have an H1 tag; only 1 though! Make sure your keyword is always it it.

      So Crystal you said that each page should only contain one H1 no matter how long the page or any other things written on either side (left or right of the pages (columns)?

    Okay there are some misunderstandings. I meant to say that my theme automatically
    puts the h1 tags on the logo text header -- my logo text includes my keyword.

    Should I leave it be? Or try to remove it and put it instead on the header of the page content??

    There isn't really one way that is right but this is what I have found:

    On a Wordpress blog themes are configured differently with regard to html coding.
    Title tags around the title of the blog are a must; don't put H1's there. The title of the blog is obviously the keyword which you are trying to rank for in the SERPS.

    In each blog post this works best:

    Title Of Blog Post - Many themes put H2's around the title

    <H1>Keyword</H1>
    content
    content
    content
    <picture with correct tags coded with keyword>
    content
    <H2>Phrase that has your keyword</H2>
    content
    content
    then H3's and so on!

    **The homepage of the blog will have multiple H1's because they will be shown in the individual posts of each blog as shown above.


    Here is an example of a site I made of a guy that beat up my brother.
    http://jarrettshutt.com/ - In this example I didn't finish writing the post because I didn't have to, to rank it at the top of Google! (;

    Not all Wordpress themes are as good as they seem.

    I wouldn't get crazy upset over this. H1 tags are great but it is not a deal breaker. I would recommend you do a different title as a H2 when writing. Once upon a time yrs ago... H1, H2, H3... & Meta keywords were major players. Of course you could also hide keywords & other fun tricks.

    I would personally recommend that you spend your time working on the inherent problems a bad Wordpress template can cause (Canonical, duplicate content, too many PHP calls, Apache compression... to name a few).
