  • Search for your sitemap page in Google. Does it display the page in the index? If it does not then your answer is simple - Google has not crawled the page.

If it does then obviously there is an error on the page itself.

Both the sites in your sig file have indexed sitemaps, and the content is also indexed.

When you say redesign: If you changed your url structure, you've lost your position in Google

Another thing you can check is to ensure your site is not set to block the crawlers. Google webmaster tools has a way for you to check to ensure your site is available to the crawlers. If it is blocked, then Google will never be able to index your site. This will also affect Bing and other search engines.

If your web site is new, try to gain some backlinks. Google will not waste its resources on sites it thinks are not popular or has no value to others. Remember that your web site gains value when it is linked from other sties.

I concur with everything everybody else is saying. If you have a blog, make sure that you have a great list of RSS sites installed to by pinged. Since they get crawled a lot, this is the best way for Google to find you.
