Blog commenting (getting comments approved)

Hello guys,

I am just wondering the following:

sometimes when I leave comments on blogs (and they are always relevant, because I only comment on the blogs/ topics I like, unless it is a spammed blog) I don't even see the "comment awaiting approval" or similar message.

Is it possible that some blogs filter out certain emails? That some emails may be marked as spam and the comment won't even go trough, or am I missing something?

Thanks for the replies.

Sometimes it is best to leave a generic comment on an auto-approved blog. The well thought out ones get flagged as spam more often than not.

Unfortunately, I believe that's correct. If a blog is full of SPAMy comments, first of all, you should move onto a different blog, there are better ones out there. But, if you do want the link, you should fall in with the pack IMHO. That's the best way to ensure that your comment goes through - just like everyone else's. Still, try to keep it 'relevantly relavant ' if you can.

The more content that you put into a comment like that, the more content is there to trigger a SPAM filter, I suppose.

Thanks for the reply guys, but I wasn't clear it seems.

I leave generic comments on spam blogs.

The question was geared towards "real" moderated and interesting blogs on which I leave comments, and sometimes I feel as if they don't pass some kind of spam filter. I fell like that because there is no "comment awaiting approval" or similar message, nor is my comment posted.

    I wonder why that is.

Often some blogs will just show a blank white page after you leave your comment. This is completely normal and actually means your comment has gone through and awaiting moderation.

I actually wrote a blog on how to find and comment on high PR blog posts here: http://www.warriorforum.com/blogs/dadamson/

I only put generic comments on those blogs that have countless spam comments. They clearly don't mind. Never on blogs that are good, even if they are auto approve.

        Thanks for the tip.

But we all use fake e-mails anyways. I would never want to expose my real e-mail address.

An easy trick to get multiple uses out of one gmail email address:

put a . in between any of the letters - so if your email address is john @ gmail.com then j.ohn @ gmail.com jo.hn @ gmail.com joh.n @ gmail.com all work (without the spaces obviously)

Even though you just admitted that you comment spam I'll give you some advice for getting good comments approved on good blogs.

When commenting always reference a previous commenter OR the owner/writer of the post. I'll usually provide my $0.02 and then ask a question to someone that's been on that post. Typically when people review blog comments they won't know whether or not your question was worthwhile and will approve it for more dialogue and interaction on the site.
