If you want your domain name to be SEO optimized, you will want to target a keyword phrase that gets a fair number of exact searches each month. Check out the WSO section here. There are many products available that will help you conduct keyword research.

I would suggest investing in a good SEO beginners guide. You've can't just expect to pick a keyword with alot of searches and then expect to rank for it.

You have to evaluate the competition to see how hard it'll be to rank for that keyword this is the hard part.

If you're not too bothered about SEO because you're driving traffic though other means then it doesn't matter what your domain name is.

What you need is traffic travis. It evaluates all your competition and tells you basically how hard it is going to be to rank for your keywords.
I noticed it isn't always accurate though but its still a great tool and the best thing is its free you can upgrade but the free version has everything you need. It tells you websites that optimising for those keywords. Its one of the best tools I have stumbled across I use it quite regulary.

Depends on whether you want to build a brand or not. If you want to, then pick a nice sounding .com that is related to your niche. Preferably with the words furniture, chairs etc. in it that you think are important. Though not necessary.

You can also go after a specific keyword related to furniture that people search for. For this, you have to use Google Keyword Tool to have an idea of what terms are popular ...

I would recommend buying an aged domain name from online auctions. It will rank 10 times faster than a brand new domain

This is the most important part of your work as the rest your work will revolve around the kewyords that you chose here. Do your research a lot and try to note a list of the
keywords which you wish to rank for. Type them in Google and see how many hits you get. Then just to get an idea see what the top ten are doing and try to do that. Keep your content original and build back links for it. Use synonyms of your keyword as well.
