i have a question about blog commenting. if i am going to comment on a blog do i need to put my link in the actual blog comment or will it count as a backlink if i just put it in the "website" box that most blogs have?

you just need to put your website in the website box. and try to use few keywords as your name, as it will be the anchortext for your link(if that blog allows it, otherwise the webmaster will probably consider your comment to be a spam and remove it).

also check whether that blog is dofollow or nofollow, as links at nofollow won't be considered backlinks.

you can use a firefox plugin 'nodofollow' for checking whether a blog is dofollow or nofollow. it highlights nofollow links with red color while highlights them in blue if they are dofollow.

You can also use the SEO for firefox plugin to check nofollow links. The no follow links will appear as red and this way you don't have to check manually.

However, if you want to check manually then you can just check the source code of the page and look for something like: <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.example.com/">. This will indicate what is appended for that particular hyperlink.

I installed this plugin and the links on my pages look no different than they did before. None of them are highlighted either red or blue.

I activated it and rebooted so it should be working, but nothing.

Edit: I figured it out. I have to right click on the page and select the nodofollow from the list to toggle it on and off. Duh!

The blog comments is the best ways to boost your position in SERP results and if you post comments in the good websites,is not so important if links are do follow or no follow...just for PR.

It is important if you want to rank in google. Google creted the no-follow tag for a reason... that reason being that they wanted to de-value certain types of links... comment spam for example....

Blog commenting is one of the best way to build quality back links from different high page rank sites. But this is only possible when you are commenting in do-follow blogs. So,first you can try to collect high page rank do-follow blogs and then comment them successfully. It will gives you more quality back links and sometimes it generates good traffic to your site.

Blog comments are great ways to get incoming links. However a lot of bloggers will delete comments that use keywords in the name field.

It does not happen for me so far yet...what i think you should do is monitor on a few blogs that you want to leave comment...by doing this, you will roughly know what to post rather then just post a general comment..if you want to do it..do it good and it benefits both you and also the reader..

      Hope this helps...

Thank you for these great tips. I never knew that firefox can eliminate nofollow links with ease. Thanks for asking the question Supercarsanctum. Now, I don't have to immerse so much time with filtering backlinks.

You should put your website in website box and keyword in Name box, And don't use it in description box.

Do not forget to give realistic comments
usually when you read through the article you get an idea on what to comment
rather than saying "great Post" which makes you look like a spammer.

On the linking part your will end up wasting 90% of your effort if your put links in the comment.

Yes, that's true. So if the blog is manually reviewed and doesn't allow auto posted comments, then have a look at the other comments and see how they have done it. If the other commenters only use a pen name for instance in the name box do that you too.

You need to put your website link the website box and do comment which is appropriate for the blog post. It will not get deleted and you may get backlinks from there.

If you are asking if will it count as a mere "backlink", yes, it will. But if you want to get good result, you can use it in your anchor text.

If you have an rss feed on your site you can get lnks from blogs running the "comluv" plugin.

They have a search tool on their site (comluv.com) which you can use to find blogs. Those sites will scan your rss feed and anchor a link on your last "post", wont work without a feed though.

However, it is possible to get anchors off some half decent sites if you have a feed.

Also, be wary of anchoring the username field. Some people find commentors with names like "cheap car insurance" somewhat disingenuous and are less likely to approve the post than if you use something that would pass for a name.

Please, don't think of the comment as just being a link. Use it to build some social presence with the other bloggers. Develop relationships. Network.

That will have more of a lasting effect than just dropping a link and running!

It depends on the kind of traffic you want to attract...for example you say about CAD industry, by posting in your niche you get traffic within your niche...but if you post it in SEO industry, not many people may want to click on your comments and visit your site...

Since you are spending time working on it....i would suggest to work within your niche...hope this helps
