I have a few questions about LSI keywords.

1. If I use the Google keyword tool to pick some LSI keywords, how do I determine which ones are the best to choose?

After I enter my sites primary keyword into the keyword tool, should I pick the keywords which have the highest search volume to use as LSI keywords or doesn't Google judge the importance of the LSI keywords based on their search volume?

2. If my sites main page has 500 words of content, ideally how many LSI keywords should I have? Is it a case of the more LSI keywords the better or should you only put a certain amount?

3. Should LSI keywords be repeated in your content like you would do with your sites primary keyword or do you only need to put the keyword in once?

I don't think that the Google Keyword Tool is the best LSI generator.
It's more like a related searches generator, and related searches are not necessarily LSI.

I'm not sure LSI keywords have that much relevece to be honest - I keep hearing different things about them from different people.

Your own brain is more powerful a tool than the google Keyword Tool - just think of what other related terms you may type in or expect to find and use those maybe once in your content.

Your own brain is only more powerful when you are an expert in the article subject. This is one of the ways to judge the content quality - how many VARIOUS related keywords have been used in the article. The intuition here is that an expert would use so much more related (and RARE) keywords and rookie would use much fewer subj-related RARE keywords and the rest would be generic commonly occurring keywords.

The longer the article (and bigger the site), the more obvious would be the difference in KW VARIETY between "expert content" and "rookie content".

So LSI keywords are not always highly searched keywords, but rather keywords that often come close together with your main target keyword. These related keywords show Google that you know the subject well.

I usually build my site on main keyword, and in my content, I mix a bit of LSI keywords. Then in the backlink, I use a lot of LSI variation, that would greatly help me rank for those keywords. This work especially well with long tail keyword as they are a lot easier to rank.

LSI keywords may be used to support your main keywords. Use them in order to make the copy readable. Google's tools are good for ideas, but it's always better to rely on common sense.

    I don't think lsikeywords.com works fine.

When I search the word "mario",

I get words like "cached similar" and "search tools". I don't think these two words are LSI keywords or related to mario.

Just ignore those particular keywords, I think those ones show up for every search that you do. The other keywords that pop up are the keywords used on the pages sitting at the top of Google.
