What do you outsource ?

Hey all,

Been doing a lot of reading on various forums and around the web concerning outsourcing certain aspects of SEO. I thought it might be a good if we all could shed some light on when to outsource and what to outsource for.

Me personally, I outsource some of my off-page SEO efforts such as article writing, blog commenting, and some link other link building efforts. I have a strong belief in doing my own on-page SEO because nobody knows my client's like I do and they haven't been there for the copywriting interviews and initial consultations.

I really think it would help everyone, especially the noobies, if we all pitched in here. So, what do you outsource ?

I outsource about 90% of my backlinks, but I write all of my content myself. Some of my sites are on relatively complex topics, and so I don't want to have something only half-legible written by someone I don't really know. I'd rather spend the time doing it right.

I outsource my content and recently I wanted to see how effective an SEO service could be and started to some backlinks. I suck at writing articles and hate writing (English class was never my thing ). All my articles have been CopyScape approved and some of the higher quality articles I buy are really good, while the cheaper ones I use for supporting posts/ article directories.

In terms of outsourcing SEO, I payed $65 for an SEO service and seeing some nice rankings on my two month old site. It could be Google dance or the service doing this, but about half of my keywords are ranking on first page. Not sure if this the route I want to take though since I'm not making enough to cover the costs and I don't want to run my "summer job money" dry. But going to hang on until the new year, rotating the service to all five of my sites and seeing what happens.

I'll tell you, the ultimate measure of "Success" in my book would be to outsource my housekeeping

But as it stands now, I'm just barely getting into the swing of outsourcing link building. I've always been a do-it-yourself guy, which does give decent results, but takes a hella long time. Sometimes the value of $5 - $10 for a task that takes me an hour or two is well worth the trade off.

You make a great point. Sometimes we can get so involved in the process of SEO, that time it takes to do off-page SEO yourself, especially if you are a solo SEO or a small company, can far exceed the money you charge versus how much profit you make.

This is why I like outsourcing. Usually, it's overseas where labor rates are CHEAP and if you can find quality freelancers who produce quality work, you can actually make a nice profit.

I'm always amazed at some SEO companies who charge thousands of dollars in monthly SEO fees, when it's obvious that there is no way they can produce x amount of backlinks and such without outsourcing (unless that is there soul client and they have tons of time). Some may call it smart, I call it cutting corners.
