Can someone please clear up what this is please?

When i was doing my adsense keyword research looking for ave cpc i use the contextual. So i bought many domains thinking they would have healthy cpc numbers.

Now that i am getting some adsense clicks the ave click is tiny. So i used GKT and it gives much smaller numbers then the contextual tool . which explains my low clicks.

Can someone please let me know what this contextual tool is and which cpc numbers should i beleive?

The contextual tool is supposed to be for the Adwords advertisers to help calculate the display/content network, but it's just an estimate, and there are glitches between the two tools and even just using one. For example, I once found a keyword with a really obscenely high CPC doing a search for a related keyword, but when I plugged that keyword in it gave a more reasonable CPC.

Yes, the contextual tool is supposed to be considerably lower. Are you sure you're searching the same way (exact) in both? It can make a huge difference in the CPC. What words are your visitors using to find your site? If you aren't tracking it you can use your cpanel's Awstats to check (scroll to the bottom). Just because you're optimizing for the keyword doesn't mean that's the CPC you'll get regarding the low clicks.

JMO but I'd go with the contextual tool if you're using the display network. But keep in mind it's only an estimate, that may be their max bid, but that might not be what they're paying.
