I have a SEO/PBR related question in relation to purhasing a domain name (see the below I've changed the city to a random one for confidentiality).

So I have two keywords with exact same search volume:
brisbane sightseeing PBR 29
sightseeing brisbane PBR 10

Suprisingly the first one has the higher PBR according to samurai but this domain is taking leaving:
- sightseeingbrisbane.com available and
- brisbanesightseeing.net available

so which domain would you go for?

What I'm saying essentially is that I've checked and the keyword i want to rank for (that gets more exacts searches) is brisbane sightseeing. I also prefer .com.

Please advise what domain to go for and how it works in terms of seo with the inverse of a keyword. Always been bit confised by this.

Thx

In general, having the words in the correct order for the keyword is probably marginally better for SEO than having them reversed ... but the nature of the site itself is more important.

For example, is this a sniper-style site that is focused only on the one keyword? If so, it probably makes more sense to go with (in your example) brisbanesightseeing.net, since all of the content will be optimized for it.

If you are going to build the site out to incorporate more related and long tail keywords, however, this becomes less important, since you will be trying to rank individual pages instead of the home page. Having the main keywords in the domain will still help, of course, but only for building the site's overall authority as opposed to ranking for the specific words.

Also, I wouldn't worry too much about getting a .com over a .net domain, outside of the fact that you generally can get more for a .com if you plan to flip it sometime down the road. From a ranking perspective, it really doesn't seem to matter ... my best-performing site is a .net, and I've had a .info that ranked without any trouble.

Finally, try not to get too tied up in the numbers. Market Samurai is a great tool, and PBR is an interesting stat, but it's not one that I've found to be that pivotal ... others may disagree, of course. My personal approach is more basic, just looking for few, if any, high-authority sites with optimized pages in the top 5 or so. I try not to overthink this stuff.

Hope this helps. My level of success is relatively modest, I admit, but keyword research and on-page/on-site SEO is of special interest to me. I'll be interested to see what others suggest.

    Hi guys,

Paul, absolutely agree with you here.

The numbers MS is pulling for these data really doesn't carry as much weight as a lot of people seem to think.

In regards to .com vs .net it really doesn't matter in terms of ranking. This is the case for going for "brisbane sightseeing" or any other variation of keyword.

Order of the keywords does matter if you are mainly focusing on the above term I would definitely get the .net (correct order).

I guess the short answer is that it really doesn't matter a whole lot when it comes to domain names. Ensure your onpage SEO is quality and offpage SEO is white-hat and consistant and either domain will rank somewhat similarly.

My advice would be to stop procrastinating and spend the time building the site and attracting visitors

I agree that in SEO keywords , backlinks , and content is the main thing to get top result. By providing meaningful and unique content with relevant keywords on high PR quality sites we can get the best results.
