Ads that follow the user?

Hi,
A friend mentioned about a year ago that there was a way to show ads to users based on their browsing habits i.e. if they have shown interest in a tennis raquet by 'Wilson' then Google would serve them 'Wilson' ads when surfing other sites.
Does this ring a bell with anyone? Can anyone point me in the right direction for finding out how to implement these ads?

        Thanks for that- perfect!
        I have audited the client's website and marketing and found multiple channels for optimisation. So rather than implement a new strategy I will focus on ROI on existing channels for now and bring in remarketing when improved revenue has been achieved.
