I have read numerous posts from people who say that they have had their site up and with a day or two are already getting Google hits. How are people getting crawled that fast? I've been up for 4 days and nothing. I uploaded a sitemap, adsense, etc.

Thanks for any help!

Tim

Tim, if you prepare a newsite well enough then the Google bots may elivate it high in the SERP for two or three days, then it will fall away - somepeople call that the sandbox - but that's not really the case. It's more a case of fresh meat for the bots to sniff. Use this tool and if you get over 8 then you may get an idea of what google is looking for SiteReportCard: Web Site Optimization and Promotion Tools

Then after those two days, start your page by page linking and change the content. Keep the bots coming back looking for fresh stuff.

    Hi Tim,

Indexing times vary but you need to get some incoming links to your site so the bots 'arrive'.

I can get my sites indexed within a few hours at the most. I submit stories to Pligg sites, which sends Googlebots to the submitted pages in a few minutes or so.

    It's very easy.

Three things can get you indexed quickly:
-Start with a clean site structure with internal links (easy to crawl)
-Sumbit a sitemap in google webmaster tools (spiders know where to go)
-Submit a press release for backlinks, or gain backlinks from prominent sites already indexed in google. (easy as a press release, as deep as social networking)

You can repeat those steps for any site you build and you're looking at a 1-2 day index (max) time in most cases. Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Kris

Using ping services helps as well, once a site is pinged via pingomatic or a similar service, it only takes seconds for the search engine bots to arrive...but as mentioned before, the best way is a few strong links.

Thanks everybody. Yes, I'm ranked just 10 minutes after going to Digg. (Of course the Digg page with my site rather than my site.)

I had an 8.33 out of 10 by the way.

      thanks again!

      Tim

PS...if anybody is interested in finance and want to stop by the blog, I would be happy to hear of ways I can do it better. Not trying to advertise, I'm just pretty excited about learning from all of you!

I submitted my sites to Digg and within a day they were indexed. This is because Digg is spidered by Google multiple times daily. I also submit my sites to: StumbleUpon, OnlyWire, Reddit, Del.icio.us, Blinklist, Furl, Magnolia, Listible, Spurl, Diigo, iGlobe, TekTag, Linklog, Bluedot, IndianPad, Netscape, Shoutwire, Excites, LinkaGoGo, Bookmark4you, Feedmarker, Linkroll, Netvouz, and Tagfoot.

I get a bunch of backlinks from these sites, and my pages get indexed and ranked very quickly after submitting my sites to these places.

Just get as many useful links as possible pointing at your site. Getting pinged always helps, with my Blogger blogs, this is done automatically via Weblogs.

I only joined the site two or so days ago, so not sure how it all works. But here's the link anyway.
