What is your monthly backlink maintenance?

In case you have already achieved the ranking that you want for your site, how do you maintain its position on the SERPS?
I have a site that will eventually reach the ranking I want for it and I'm thinking of doing some maintenance for it in order that it will stay there for as long as possible.
I have in mind using UAW then just submit an article on it once in a week.
Any suggestions? thoughts?
