Hi
I have just joined this forum - I'm studying A-levels and I have this website which I set up a while ago. www.surfing-hotspots.com I have set it up for adsense (I'm in the middle of re-doing the site) and would like some input about the layout of where to put the adsense.

I am using Dreamweaver.

Any help greatly appreciated
thanks

I think you need a lot more content before you begin to monetise your site properly. With the amount of content you have it will be difficult for you to get traffic and you will have low CTR. The best performing ads on my adsense sites are leaderboard ads and link ads embedded into the content.

Put more content before doing some experiment on your placement..

      besides more content...

I would suggest an add placement right below the title of the page before the main text.

Do you mean more content on the home page or more content by adding more pages?

        thank you

Besides adding more content, I would put a little more into your title. It is pretty short right now.

I was referring to the number of pages.

    Hi,

I think you should add a few more pages, make it a bit more interesting as its an interesting subject & then try different types of ads too.

Where to put adsense? ok. I just share with you where I put adsense ads.

I put One horizontal leaderboard on top.
Left side bar - three horizontal link unit
RIght side bar - one 120x600 skyscraper

Here is some area you need to take care in order to increasing your adsense earnings.

      FIRSTLY, content.

You need to have at least 20 pages of content or 20 articles that is keyword optimized. if possible, write it on your own. if not, you can just pick from ezinearticles. the maximum you can take from there is 25 articles. Go Terms of Service For Publishers Who Wish To Reprint Any Content From EzineArticles.com and read for details.

Getting articles from ezinearticles is really just a short term plan, because you want to add more content NOW. If you treat this as long term business, you should seriously consider having unique articles on your site.

      SECONDLY: Traffic.

From what I can see, that site has very little traffic. For adsense site, you really cannot afford traffic via paid methods if you do not how. In facts, free traffic is the best if you really treat this as long term business.

Details on how to generate traffic, I think you can get from it from other threads in this forum.

THIRDLY: your ad placement and ads type. you need to test all types of TEXT ads only. Yes. Text ads only. for me, I just don't like images ads because the CTR is almost terrible( at least it is on my site). You need both ad unit and link unit.

        Hi

I guess I'm coming in a bit late as you have updated your site already. I like the content you have added, especially the placement of the short text adds under your headline as suggested by gbh1935 I didn't even realise they were adds at first and clicked to see the other pages, hope you don't mind I checked them all top and left.
I would suggest you add more adsense adds to the additional pages you've created you only have the top text adds at the moment and could have an addidtional, leader board I think its called on the right of the page and maybe a contextual within the actual content maybe half way down not too big like a newspaper style.
One other thing I would suggest is to add some pictures of the actual surfing sites and wrap the text around them and a within site link to the larger picture as well as a few external links to infomraiton from each of the local areas.
Finally I'd suggest you look at your metatags and make them more specific to each page content rather than duplicating so much of the same and make it keyword combinations rather than single keywords as you'll get a better result.

        Paul

The adsense placement is perfect. Not too much not too less. Now all you should do is work hard to get some visitors and continue adding valuable original content.

Thankyou for all your answers. Very helpful!

I have built this website in Dreamweaver.
I am trying to learn CSS what do others recommend for a good adsense website?

            Thanks
