Newby question here.....
when posting videos, typically you'll have your tag words (simple) and your description where most folks will plug in tag words as well...
If I were selling tires (for example), instead of using tags like "radials, slicks, off-road", can I use something like: "Pepboys, america's tire compay" so when people are looking for these particular companies I can get pulled up.....

It's a grey area. I know Google has been sued over this but I think it makes a difference where you are as to if it's you or Google that gets sued.

Bottom line, trading on someone else's trademark is a big No-No. It certainly did and continues to happen and Google hasn't stopped it. However it's one of those things that's perfectly peachy and no biggie, right up until you get the 6 years in jail and or $100,000 fine plus damages.

In short it's a risk that you'll probably get away with. Unless you don't.

Don't even think about using someone else's trademark in your actual advert wording unless you're a recognised affiliate of that company, as you're leaving yourself wide open for a lawsuit doing that.

Really though, this isn't the place for legal advice, you need to read Google's TOS closely and consult a lawyer. My general attitude towards such things is if you have to ask, don't. Remember laws tend not to be carved in stone and are very much subject to human subjective opinion. If YOU think it might be a bit dodgy so might the judge...

one thing is for sure that no one exactly know what google exactly looks over as the algo and their sense of tackling a website is with the google developers. the fact that every SEO know is the keyword whether it is the keyword used in for websites, or promotion through videos.

The most imp factor you must have in your mind set is that you must have correctly feeded up the keywords, try to aviod keywords which are not relevant to the matter the videos is for......if you try this way it is for sure that your account is blocked....

thanks!!!! I just didn't know where the black and white started or ended. I definitely didn't have any branded or logo info up. Definitely not trying to go that route. Just didn't know if people were being busted for things like:
video name: the new mlm that solves world peace!!!!!!
tags: mlm, mlm scams, world peace, mlm scams
    description: blah blah blah
    herbalife
    avon
    mlm 3
    mlm 4

    - regarding SEO it's easy to see how an example like this would pull rank, I just don't know if i'd be shooting myself in the foot for using companies names as a "step ladder", especially if I had nothing to do with them directly.
