Hi, I found some long tail keywords with high local monthly searches low competition. So i went ahead and built a site with unique content. Basicly aiming for adsense. 3 day's to get indexed and nowhere in google. I have been reading that if you can match this criteria its very easy to rank, Not me though ?

I did this locally and was ranked in a little over an hour and am on page one for the keyword, also.

    Have you pinged your site?

If not, go to pingler.com and ping it.

When you did the keyword research, did you have it set on "exact" or "broad"?

PM me if you want me to look at it for you. Someone did that for me and I imemdiately saw what I'd done wrong, fixed it and moved forward.

        Oh, yes. So sorry.

As a side note, you might want to join the War Room for a one time lifetime fee. It was adviced to me when I was first here and is very worth it.

What kind of on-page and off-page SEO are you doing? Is your content useful? There are a lot of factors that go into getting rankings, but if even if you're doing all the right things it can still take more than 3 days sometimes, it just depends, don't give up yet.

Do less reading and more testing.

    Testing is more reliable.

Besides, if anyone could just whack up a made for Adsense site, wouldn't the world be retired on a beach?

Jeeez, this a business people, not a free for all cash dispenser.

Yes, long tail keywords do work. I have many sites that target long tail keywords and most rank relatively easily with a small amount of high quality link building work.

If your site is not indexed and is relatively new, it could be that the search engines have not discovered your site yet. If so, just ping your site, submit your site's RSS feed to some RSS directories, do some social bookmarking, submit your site to Google Webmaster Tools, do some high quality link building and you should have no problem getting your site to be indexed.

Search for your site here: www.scroogle.org also make sure you provide good content that people want to look at. Can you add a video? Videos seem to bring your site up on search engines.

It will take longer than 3 days. Keep adding content and ping the site after each add. Test...test...test....

Long tail keywords work just fine, but things do not happen overnight. You are going to have to promote any content you put out there.

Long tail keywords work great for a variety of purposes, especially at getting traffic to your site for a variety of keyword combinations.

It takes a bit of work and a bit of time though, not only to get your site well indexed but for the algorithm to figure out where your site belongs in the SERPS.

Long tail keywords definitely work especially if you have a exact match domain name to go with your keyword, although it is easy to rank in google you still have to do some basics.

The on page optimisation has to be correct, you also need to do some basics such as social bookmarking and pining to get google to notice you.

Give it a little bit of time. You're not going to see substantial ranking in 3 days, especially on a new domain. Give it a month and then assess whether or not your link building efforts are working.

Long tail keywords are good for new marketers as they are much easier to rank for therefore with a bit of work you can have some initial success.

The downfall of many new marketer in my opinion is chasing the big paying words when you have no experience. They bang their heads against a wall with a high competition keyword and get nowhere and give up.

      Hi NewbieAff,

Based on your post I'm not convinced that you have a clear understanding of what makes a particular keyword a "long tail" keyword.

In your post you said you "found some long tail keywords with high local monthly searches". If the keyword has high search volume it isn't classified as a "long tail" keyword. The very essence of what defines a keyword as "long tail" is it's relatively lower traffic volume.

You can make "long tail" keywords work for you by focusing on keywords that have relatively low search volume but are laser targeted for high conversion potential. Because the traffic volume is low, you need a lot of them to add up to something substantial, hence that is where the term "long tail" comes into play, "long" tail as in "long" list.

Indexing doesn't mean that you will get high rankings as well. Build back links for your website to get high rank in Google
