For all I know is that Long as your backlinks are relevant you have no problem with Google Panda/Farmer Update. Real Talk.

And the more you have links coming from authority sites that are related to your niche /offer/ etc the more the chance for the site of getting indexed for High Page Rank.

I give Google what it wants. Lots of unique content.

I have made zero adjustments as my staff and I write original, quality content for human beings. The viral and syndication effect over time is what we focus on.

It's working even better since the Panda update since we don't rely on Google to get eyeballs. Granted, some things stay the same such as using keywords in our titles, having compelling resource boxes, distributing our content amongst a wide variety of distribution channels (radio, podcasts, press releases, authors, webmasters, etc.).

Another thing to think about is that since the Panda update, Google has modified their algo at least a dozen times. You're going to drive yourself crazy trying to keep up with them, assuming you even know what they are (most people don't).

Don't write to please Google, write to please your audience with a call to action, focus on building your own network of eyeballs and you can kick Google's butt all over the place! (As a side effect, they are going to love you anyway!). An important business question to ask is, "if Google were to kick me off it's search results, do I have enough traffic from other places to keep on going?"

I asked this question many years ago when Google was more than 50% of my traffic. After reading Allen Says' Private Posts I had to ask that question (it's in the War Room by the way, killer stuff). Today it's roughly 5% because we use other channels of distribution (hint: a big part of it is building your own list and your own network of readership and customers).

It's just something that people selling SEO information have hooked onto to convince you that you need to buy new tools and information in order to market your website.

The only people who need to worry about ANY Google update are those people using automated tools and systems to try and trick Google into thinking their site is more popular than it actually is.

This 'gaming' of Google always goes on and they're always looking to stop it - play that game at your peril.

As Rod said - some of us have been doing this a long time and have changed almost NOTHING and still get great results without paying ANY attention to Googles algorithm changes.

If you base your business on trying to game Google then you're asking for trouble.

Stop looking for short-cuts and just do what works - long term and you can forget about Panda or any other updates.

The other side to this is even if you pay special attention to give Google exactly what they want - you could still get caught in an algorithm change, so the big message here is:

Stop trying to fit your business around Google and just focus on getting your product/service/message to your target customers as effectively as possible, while keeping in mind NOT to game Google and take whatever they give you as a bonus.

Sure you can do well from them - but it will only last while you're NOT trying to game their system.

If Google turned off tomorrow - where would your business be?

It's bad business for anyone to rely too heavily on anything they don't control.

IF your visitors stays more time on your site than your competitors.. you beat all the pandas otu there.. do not worry of anything..
its all based on the value you provide... panda is guess is for low quality sites. so you only have to worry if yours is of low quality with ads predominant.
dont worry about backlinks or their quality a backlink is a backlink. worry about improving quality and making visitor stay in your page more than they already do now... that 10-20 seconds extra time will do wonders.


get as much as backlinks possible to come up in seprs in first page.. once you are there.. and if your users love your site... google will have to make your STAY there irrespective of poor quality links etc.....

Ive had similar experience in a site of mine where i, last year beginning, enabled "do not notify search engines" option accidentally.. but it was still in first page because users were loving it (hint: user vote more than anything else) and were staying more than 2 minuts with minimum 3 page views per user...

now set your priorities straight and work on it...

Google has told us what they want. Not that they told us 100 percent...but they want good quality content, videos, useful stuff that engages the visitor and the ability to be GOD on the World Wide Web...for starters.

Andy has nailed it. However, i am pretty sure, many newbies here will still think, they know something, which old folks here dont know. They will still believe they can "game the system". I guess, some people got to burn their fingers before realizing the right thing.

unique content and revelant backlinks (strong ones) will always make you win even because of Panda.

I have my rankings fluctuation.. And last week I lost all my rankings. Even though I have my own private network websites for my link building purposes. I guess still continuing proper link building in different websites combined link building with my private network website.

Agree, this whole Google Panda thing is a real mess. But I also appreciate the effort from Google to kick spammers out of the game.

Value and quality content? I doubt it. How do you define what "quality and value content" is? To some, it might be very helpful (as they are new to the field). To others, it's just like a piece of crap (as they're highly knowledgeable).

What I want to point out here is after the Panda kicking in, many people going around screaming "the sky is falling!" They say to survive, you must feed the Panda with original, one-of-a-kind, useful content. Or else, it will eat you! Really? Does that Panda speak English? I don't think so.

So how to survive? Although I feel like shooting my foot now but it's really important to not relying too heavily on Google for traffic. They will change their algorithms again and again. That's for sure. It's time to build a list (God damn, I have to practice this)

I've been searching a thread like this. And thanks God i found it. And now i learned so much from this thread because a lot of people share their knowledge about Google Panda. Thanks to you guys!

With the new update...I believe content would not be enough...
Now...think of design and user experience.
I know, good SEOs have been preaching design user experience for years because it tends to generate more links, people contribute more content to it, it gets more social signal shares and tweets and all this other sort of good second order effect. Now, it has a first order effect impact, a primary impact. If you can make your design absolutely beautiful, versus something like this where content is buffeted by advertising and you have to click next, next, next a lot.
The content isn't all in one page. You cannot view it in that single page format. Boy, the content blocks themselves aren't that fun to read, even if it is not advertising that's surrounding them, even if it is just internal messaging or the graphics don't look very good. The site design feels like it was way back in the 1990s. All that stuff will impact the ability of this page, this site to perform. Don't forget, Google has actually said publicly that even if you have a great site, if you have a bunch of pages that are low quality on that site, they can drag down the rankings of the rest of the site....

My strategy hasn't changed at all since the first Panda update and my sites still rank just fine. High PR backlinks, social bookmarking, press releases, rss feeds, etc. along with on page SEO still work fine with me. Of course, unique content is also key.

Make sites that dont suck...

There is one thing i noticed the other day and thats the google + 1

I was checking my keyword in google like you do, not signed in to gmail.

page 1 position 7 thats ok i thought. Then the next day i checked again, page 1 postion 3 ! wow i thought that was quick.

Then i remembered that i +1 my own site and was logged in to gmail.

So i jumped 4 spots because google knew i +1 that site.

Ummm i wonder how much it would cost to get everyone to +1 my site

Nothing much! Cross your fingers and start praying to survive the next "RANDOM" panda update by luck or fluke.

One thing I notice from my competitor that still ranked in first spot in SERP and never effected in every Google Panda update is buy Homepage Backlink. Its the strongest backlink in the world that is why we have to pay couple hundred dollars per month, quite expensive but satisfying result

Google has made several algorithmic updates like Panda in the past too. If you focus on user and then optimize then nothing has changed. Panda has changed things for those who are too much focused on search engine rankings. Keep churning out good content you will get hundreds of link automatically if people share it.

I just want to chime in and say that I actually recovered from Panda by following the directions inside Panda Breakthrough. It took a little while for Google to re-crawl the changes.. but when it did, my site bounced back and my traffic almost doubled in 2 days! It's all about site quality and making Google think you have a great website. He breaks down everything Google wants (things like metrics, static elements, etc) and tells you exactly what to do so Google thinks you have a highest quality site. I thought I had a great site before but it was really a huge eye opening experience to go through his program. I made hundreds of changes and that's all it took!! (Some of the changes included navigation modifications, adding elements for the visitors, modifying how I wrote my content, changing the layout, etc.)
