Google is not paying enough!

It always seems weird to me when I am getting $0.20 / click when I know for sure my cpc is at least $4. I have many sites on the top 3 in google but my clicks are only getting 0.20 to 0.30. When will google pay me the $4, or at least anything close for that matter. Heck, even $1/ click is also good.

I know you guys will tell me that google isn't giving me the expensive ads yet, but when will I get those ads? I have traffic but poor cpc.

I get the cpc from the google adwords keyword tool. Yes, I use exact searches.

How do you think they got so rich ?

Be happy, most other ad networks pay 2-3 times less.

Very true! I get click that pay 0.00 all the time. Anyone have any theory of how google calculate cpc?

Hmm. It depends on your Niche. If you operate in competitive vertical where people spends huge amount of money on PPC then surely you will get a good per click rate on adsense. Otherwise you need to focus on traffic. More traffic, more clicks and more income.

It's not only depend on exact searches for getting high cpc, but also relevant ad on your page when visitor come to your site and click on adsense ad, For example your page main keyword is car and any visitor coming from google by search car that time if adsense show any banking related ad and visitor click on that ad, so google adsense count normal cpc, And generally $0.20 cpc is not bad.

Want to more high cpc than not use only banner or rich ad, but select also text ad.

Those cpc in the google keyword tool are NOT for the content network - they are for adwords advertisers costs for the ads in hte serps results. Your adsense ads are in their content network and are likely at 1/4 of that or even less.

More realistically ... $4 x .25 x .65 = your payout per click. There are much smarter people here with much more adsense revenue generation and tracking experience who can give a better formula and explanation.

The above is just a guide based upon stuff Ive seen.

You beat me to it. This is a mistake so many folks make. Content network clicks are far less profitable than you think.

Terrific explanation, can anyone else weigh in on this? I have the exact same problem I am getting 20 cents for a keyword that is listed as 2.00 click in adwords

Is this normal? or am i being smart priced?

Does anyone have more information on value of CPC between SERPs vs Adsense ad network

No, you are not being smartpriced. Advertisers typically bid much lower for clicks in the content network than they do for search. The AdWords tool shows typical CPC for search bidding only.

BUT, This is only for the top demographic, such as US traffic. There are a lot of factors, including the actual ad that is clicked. Either way, $0.20 is better than nothing

Google publishes to you that they payout close to 65% of the clicks to publishers in their content network. The problem is not what google takes or pays - its what Advertisers are willing to pay for their ads to be in the "Content Network" vs. being on the top and to the right of SERPS results.

Of course google doesnt do a good job of over promoting their content networks value to advertisers - where they split revenues - they want people to advertise in their serps results where they make their bread and butter.

Have you considered the fact you might be shooting yourself in the foot, too?

If you are displaying multiple ad blocks, the one listed first in your HTML code is going to be the one with the highest paying ads. If the ad block getting the most clicks is NOT first in your HTML code you will be getting lower value clicks. It would be the same as someone clicking on Ad number 10 on a Google search instead of Ad number 1. The person in place 10 is paying much less for the ad.

Keep in mind, just because the block displays first on your page does not mean it is first in your HTML code...two very different things.

In addition to the above, make sure your highest CTR ad is being displayed in a <div> tag to make sure that that ad is getting the highest CPC out of all ads displayed on your site.

I have a site that over the last 3 months makes on average $1.24 per click The site makes me anywhere from $5 to $30 a day with barely any traffic.

Granted I only have 1 site like this out of like 10... so I just stumbled upon it by accident. Sometimes you just get lucky

For starters: Google pays out 68% of the bid on whichever ad your visitor clicks on; its not some magical formula that people seem to come up with.

If you want to get a better view on how much your keyword phrases are actually worth look inside the "Contextual Targeting Tool" inside the Google adwords admin panel. These are the approximate worth of the keywords in adsense.

Another thing you need to realize that is each ad on your page is going to be worth different amount depending on the bid. You can't put up your 3 ad spaces and expect each and every ad to pay out the same.

Some are going to pay very little to be on the content network while others will pay as much as possible. Sometimes the advertisers will run out of money for that day and only the lower paying ads will appear. There are just so many things that determine the current price of the ads on your site. But in the end Google WILL PAY OUT 68%.

so can u tell us what the adsense cost per click is for you in this instance. not the niche of course. are you getting 1.24 out of 2.50, 5.00 or 10.00?

I have no idea but the main kw I was targetting for that site had an adwords cost of about $8 USD per click.

Doesnt really make a difference though, I have 3 more sites that have the same adwords cost and they make between $0.05 and $1 per click.. I do get the odd $3 or $4 clicks but barely ever.

I don't look at the CPC but rather "contextual ads" for adsense.

$0.20? Oh my! That's already a goldmine and you should already be thankful for that. Most people do not go beyond $0.05 per click. Just try to enjoy what you reap right now and try to improve your campaign or choose a more lucrative niche for a better money harvesting next time.

Skip the middleman.. (or at least 1 middleman)

See what's being promoted on your site, find that offer, use a similar lander and similar ad - profit!

IMO you can make much more with the proper cpa offers than adsense.. (obviously depends on the niche, site, etc)

Sad truth is, 20 cents is about average.

As someone said, you are mistaking search for content network.

$4 on search, which is pretty low, would probably garner no
more than a buck on the content network. And you have
to build a rep, so your site with no history is going to get
the bottom of the barrel. Maybe 40 cents. So, 20 cents
      is about right.

If you build it, they will pay does not work with adsense sites.

Adwords users need a reason to target your site.

You do indeed need all 3 ad blocks.

Why? Because great adwords users get a lower CPC. If you
have only one, and that's goes to a top adwords user,
(which is what you want) you are shutting out higher
      bidders.

Put all 3 blocks, and you open up the competition a little
      more.

There's no such thing as guaranteeing that people will
click on the highest paid ad. That's just silly.

BTW: If google has a $4 ad on your site, you DO NOT get
paid the $4. Better read again.

Build some history and authority for your site. Then you
will increase the higher paying ads.
