Wordpress as main CMS? Bluehost good?

I'd like to start with adsense to get my feet wet in IM, starting with small 3-5 page niche sites. I'm going to choose bluehost as my web host and wordpress as my main CMS, I intend to use it for other purposes than blogging as well such as selling a physical product I have. What do you think of this way to begin?

Another question is more in detail of how adsense works, like do you just have one account to use for all your websites? do you have to submit an application for every website you want to put adsense on?

    Hi
Welcome to the world of niche sites!

I have heard good things of blue host, although I have never used them, I use a few different hosts, one being hostgator.

Wordpress is good because it is easy. Put a nice theme on (Like flexibility theme), and an SEO plugin, all is a good start.

3-5 pages is small in my opinion, shoot for 30, 40, (And even 200+) pages over time, add a new page per day for a few months, maybe two pages. Always put unique content on it.

You have one adsense account, which covers all of your websites. You just log in and make a new code to put on your wordpress account. You can have as many sites as you want on one adsense account, and each one does not need to be approved. Flexibility theme has a place for you to do this.

    Good luck

      Hello HazeBlazer,

if it's your first experience, i can say you are starting the right way.

Wordpress is perfect as it's very professional and flexible due to the large amount of plugins available.

I have never worked with BlueHost but never heard of anything bad either about it and pretty sure they are a reliable company.

I personally use Hostgator wich i find it's a great hosting service, with an outstanding customer service.

Regarding the content, best is if you can update your blog often. At least a couple of articles a week would help your ranking rather than just post a few articles as you planned to do.

To monetize, AdSense or affiliate programs, anything is fine.

With AdSense, you don't need to be approved for each blog but just add your new campaign and, as soon as the ads are created, they will be displaying on your sites in minutes.

And before you start anything on your blog, do a proper keyword research or you risk to just waste your time as that is the most important aspect when you want to start a blog you want to rank for.

I've had good luck with BlueHost and Hostmonster (same company). I find their phone support is on par with HostGator, and I have never had to wait more than a few seconds to get through. And as with HostGator, BlueHost's support is U.S. based.

They don't have the same diversity of plans as HostGator - they have no equivalent reseller plan or business plan to upgrade to, though they do sell SSL certificates separately. I have had them install and move SSL certificates too, and it was all quite painless.

If you look around, you can usually find a 3.95 per month special, if you haven't already done so (just search for "BlueHost 3.95" and you should find places where you can get that price).

All in all, I think they make a fine first host.

Have used Hostgator for 2 years now - no complaints. But make sure you install wordpress MANUALLY as opposed to using Fantastico (One-click wordpress install), this will make your wordpress blog more difficult to hack. Many people have learned the hard way.
