"Reborn" sites

If a site is "reborn", is it usual for it to take a lot longer to rank?

I had a site which I made, but it wasn't very good because it was my first site. So I removed all the content from the site and replaced it with new content, but now the site isn't ranking anywhere in Google even though its a few months old. The site is targetting the same keywords as before, but with completely new content.

The strange thing is, when I check the site in indexing tools it says the site is indexed in Google, but when I type the URL into Google, the site isn't listed in the search results.

      I've already added the URL to Google, but the site doesn't appear when I type the URL into Google.

      It looks like the site has been de-indexed. I haven't got a clue why as i've done everything in a WH way.

    Sometimes Google will say they have "indexed" a website when you look in webmaster tools, but it could still take another few days for it to actually appear in Google.

      When i type the inner page URLs into Google, they appear on the results. So its only the main URL which isn't appearing on the search results. Im confused as to why because the main page was appearing when i last checked weeks ago.

      So it seems the main page has been de-indexed, but the inner pages haven't. Is this unusual?

        Normally it will take a little while for your new site to be indexed. Make sure google knows which URL to follow or it may penalise you for duplicate content. You can use the 301 direct at google.
