Choosing Keyword Problem

Hey everyone!

I'm having trouble choosing a keyword to base my whole site around. The problem is, that it's a foreign word that is spelled and spoken in english. It's something I will be selling. Google keword tool shows me that one way to spell it get's the second most traffic, and the least competition.

The problem is, when I type in this keyword, google offers to fix the spelling for me and then changes it to the other keyword.

Do you think it's unwise to create my website around this keyword? It'll be a drop shipping eCommerce site.

    The short answer is yes, in my opinion, based on what you have said - and if you're hoping for organic SE traffic.

    Is there a reason why the keyword with the most traffic is no good?

    So are you targetting a misspelling of the word? I guess I don't get it.

    Either way, remember that not everyone uses Google Instant, or will take Google's suggestions to fix the spelling for them.

    Like ExRat said though, it can definitely affect how much traffic comes in from SEO

      I wouldn't build the site around I misspelling myself even if the competition is a bit lower. Target the correct spelling and maybe add a page targeting the misspelling to get that traffic that isn't following google's suggestion.

    I tend to avoid mispelt keywords these days.

    Most search engines are redirecting users automatically to the correct spelling.

    Another trick you can use is within the content of your page write something like

    ...lose, which a lot of people for some reason spell "loose"

    Not exactly the most powerful strategy, but something to think about.

    You also might want to experiment with 2 seperate pages, the correct spelling and the mispelled version - and see what the results are. Backlink to both pages with the mispelled variations as well.
