PPC Ad Generator - Creating Ads Quickly Using Excel

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a solution here.

The keywords I'm targeting (Adwords) are made up of two words for explanation sake lets say they are:

dog training

But in my ad due to restrictions on the display URL I can only show:

dog.petcare.com

Rather than the ideal:

dog-training.petcare.com

I want my ads to look identical for each keyword apart from the display url so I need some kind of software/excel template which allows me to generate my ads by pulling from my keyword list which allows me to take the first word from the keyword (which is word 1 + word 2) and put that into my display URL so it looks like e.g.: word1.dog-training.petcare.com

Unfortunately I can't do this with dynamic keyword insertion since that would take both words which would go over the character limit.

Many thanks,

Sam

      Hello Sam,

I will help where I can for you.

First you can use a subdomain , sub directory option in your display url among other combinations.

so first with your question you can indeed use dog training in your sub domain and that could look like this (so long as combo's are at the 35 char limit or less)

      DogTraining.PetCare.com

you can use a sub directory style display url which would look like this

      PetCare.com/DogTraining

which in many ways can flow a little better / your call

you may also use a www in front if room (35 chars or under)

      wxx.PetCare.com/DogTraining
      or
      wxx.DogTraining.PetCare.com

If you want to paste a range of keys into an excel sheet and have it produce a line of text so you can copy that would be easy to do.

in col A place word 1
in col B place word 2
in col C place this formula =A5&B5 adjust row number to match correct row (this is row 5)

you can drag that formula down the page then if you wish

in col D place this formula =C5&".PetCare.com" or if your doing a sub directory use this formula ="PetCare.com/"&C5

once again place in row 5 and drag to suit

if you wanted to in col E you could place a counter to test the length of the text by adding this =LEN(D5)

from there you can add filters or formatting to sort any oversize (+35 chars) display urls

That should sort most if not any thing that you would need based on your post, if you do this all of the time and need high teck stuff there are probably many people o desk ? that should be able to slap out something or drop a pm and if i get 3 sare seconds i might be able to do some thing for you.

      edit

I also forgot to add about your dynamic keys, yes you can do this, if the display url fits per normal you can also add it as a dynamic as it remains the same length

      for example

      DogTraining.PetCare.com = {KeyWord: DogTraining}.PetCare.com
      and

      PetCare.com/DogTraining = PetCare.com/{KeyWord: DogTraining}
remove the gap before the word Dog

you could get excel to also create the dynamic version for you based on extending out and adding to the example i gave

      ="PetCare.com/"&"{KeyWord:"&C5&"}"

      as an example
