Just wondering like the title says does article marketing help bring in a decent amount of traffic? If I distribute 100s of articles to high quality directories like ezine will that help me get 100s of visitors per day?

It will help you, no doubt about that.
Whatever niche you are trying to target, have a website for that which is well onpage SEOed. Then submitt articles to ezine and use low competition keywords as titles of those articles. These articles can rank on first page for low comp. keywords. Use anchor text backlinks for your main niche pointing back to your site.

    3000,

Contrary to recent "popular belief"... article marketing is NOT dead. It still works. The rules have just changes a little... that's all.

    1) Write longer articles. No less than 400 words (not because Google "requires" it, but because article directories (like ezine) misinterpreted recent Google updates and now think that you have to have longer articles. (That just means longer "crap" in many cases.)

    2) Write content that folks will actually like and want to link to.

    3) Again (contrary to popular belief)... don't worry so much about keywords as you do about making it interesting.

Use your keywords in the "Johnson" box (resource box) in keyword-rich anchor text.

What I am saying here is:
Yes, if you can write an on-topic article about your area... great, write it. But don't be so bound by this rule that you can't write about something else and just save the resource box for your links.

My point: I would rather get 200 links back to my site from sites that have high PR, but have nothing to do with my area (but have my anchor text links in the resource box) than to get 6 crappy links from 6 crappy sites that are "on-topic".

Just so you know... we employ this strategy. It is LIBERATING. And we have results that prove it works. Each to his own, though.

    Good luck.

According to Matt Cutts, article marketing is not a recommended technique for SEO and getting traffic to your site. You can see his video on Youtube.

I get a fair portion of my traffic from the article directories but I'm not too sure if it's targeted traffic coming through articles that have ranked well in the serps, or from the actual article sites themselves with people browsing which would mean less targeted visitors and even maybe fellow writers researching the 'competition'. Either way you can pretty easily get traffic just from submitting your articles yes.

With my experience, I have applied article marketing strategy to my site and it really works well when it comes to traffic. But this strategy would really require good effort from you. If you are in doubt, why not give it a try, test it you would surely find the answer... Good luck

Yes as the other folk have said, you can get good traffic from articles.

Ezine articles can provide you with good traffic.

Also if you have hundreds of articles, you could try using Isnare.com.

They distribute articles for you for a small fee, and this will save you
    a lot of time.

I am curious to know if others have had the same problem as me.

      1. e-Zinearticles takes too long to approve my article on new niche ( I am a free writer). By the time my article is online, there are already many articles on the same topic.

      2. Sometimes the moderators reject the article for silly reasons. ( Once my article was rejected because the word "list building" was over promoted in my article.

      3. Without investing in an article spinner, I could not submit same articles to multiple directories.

Everybody keeps saying that article marketing is FREE. Is this method really FREE ??

If you can outsource the articles, then yes it's worth it. Writing them everyday by yourself will really start to suck.

Article marketing works, but you need a LOT of articles.

  • In my experience, article marketing works best to get backlinks to your website, especially if you use a site such as www.ezinearticles.com. However, it does not necessarily drive traffic that converts into sales. More recently, as a Diamond level Contributor, I've found it very useful in identifying keywords that led viewers to specific articles.
