Quick ranking question (new to SEO)

In the process of ranking a website that has to do with a local service. Is it hard to beat out a superpages page listing businesses in that niche?

    Hi !

    Here is my answer : Well, superpages is a well established company with a online marketing budget thats larger than most local businesses and their name recognition allows for increased followers and their content therefore gives them a higher quality score, meaning they pay less for number 1 than a business with less recognition would. This is an instance where being number 2 is just as good as being #1, except it will be a lot cheaper. If you come up on the first page, I would take that as success.
