Question on building my list, please help.

I am putting together a web page for the purposes of building a list. I can't decide whether to just give the item away and risk a lot of freebie seekers, or charge $1 for it and build my list of buyers.

$1 is obviously a small threshold for a purchase, but in your experience, which do you think is best, the give away or the $1 purchase?

This is my first attempt at doing something like this.:confused:

    In my experience, free works best for list building. once your list starts growing, build relationships and you will overcome resistance, making sales easier.

    Hey,

    $1 for something is definitely a good way to build a buyer list. I've found that sometimes (depending on the niche) that offering a freebie to build your list just means you have a bunch of freebie seekers on a list - not great for future profits.

    You could try building two lists - one site for $1, one for free and then you can send the same emails to each list and see which converts the best. It will really depend on the niche.

    Then you'll know for the future how to best build a buyers list.
