Wordpress silo structur?

the silo plugin changes all the links in your site except one on each page to no-follow. The one it leaves as do follow will point to the next article in that category, and will do this for each article in the catgegory, until the articles end, after which the link will point to the first article in the next category.

This assists the spiders to properly index the categories in a systemic manner, which makes for the silo ordered content.

I have used it, and it definitely works.

Basically what the plugin does is it "Points" link juice flow. That's the main idea, by making all the OBL no-follow your juice doesn't flow to other sites and it's all being directed to your internal links (posts)

  my example shows an simple menu with posts, as an static menu.
  I experiment a lot and not find a solution for this problem, to make an drop down menu in wordpress with static sites and static underpages.
  
  Like this;
  
  wedding tabeles
  - wedding table 1
  - wedding table 2
  
  and so on.
  
  I have the flexi page widget , its not works.This plugin can not only pages separatly include or exclude, it not can put a site under a Parent site (underpage), not possilbe with this.
  
  And the other plugin I have is the exclude plugin, works, but not can put underpages in a parent page.
  
  I search an simple easy free plugin who make this. I have not find yet.
  With drupal ist not a problem, but wordpress, with wordpress its not possible.
  
  And drupal its not very easy to use for me.
  
  Folks, it gives an easy wordpress plugin who can do the work or I must search for another free easy cms system.

  With the FoCal Plugin is not possible to make an menu with underpages.
  This plugin not works in WP 3.04.

  In moment I tested wp wd tree, but there are many problems with this plugin;
  
  When I use the wd tree categroy widget, it shows/ list my posts they I have posted under an extra category too, also double content.
  
  When I use the wd tree page widget, it shows/list the static pages from the primary menu in twenty ten theme too.
  
  aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhh, whats a pain of work, to make an submenu in wp.

Hy,

its very painfull. I dont find a free plugin that can make an navigable hierarchie menu in wordpress sidebar like this;

product category a
- produkt review blablabla
- produkt review blablabla
-produkt review blablablba

product category b;
-product b blablablba
-review b blablablba

you get the idea. With the article categorys and articles within ist not a problem, so with the wd tree plugin, but not possible with pages. With pages is not possible to build categroys and pages within, so every free cms can co the work, but no wordpress.

Any here who knows a comfortable free plugin?

And in this category you put your written post there, without the comment function.

And voila, you have a silo structure, as like named "child pages" or not?
Set the permalink structure without the category and you have this permalink structure like an static page like this; www.weddingexperts/wedding-tables.

Where is the problem with this silo structur, so you need some of theese silo plugins?

That's not a silo, that's a diluted category.

Why is it diluted?

Any WP theme that's not specifically setup for a virtual silo structure, which is 99.9% of WP themes that I see available, include tons of internal links from outside the silo/category on the same page. Example of links that break a silo, header, Nav, sidebar, footer, etc...

By doing this link structure below you limit yourself to a single keyword landing page per domain, which happens to be the Index page in your example (weddingexperts).

hxxp://www.weddingexperts.com/wedding-tables

You open up unlimited new keywords by doing something like this (below):

hxxp://www.weddingexperts.com/wedding-experts/wedding-tables

Wedding Experts is the category, not the Index page.

A WP category is only the beginning of a virtual silo, not the complete answer.

Test it for yourself.

Count the number of links on any of your blog post pages, you'll start to see what I'm talking about with all the excessive none related links (sidebar, etc...).

So what kind of free WP theme do you recommend if you want to create a silo structure? A theme that has no navigation, sidebar, footer, etc?

So should there be NO non-related links (sidebar, footer, etc) or would a few non-related links not have much of an effect in diluting the silo? Or would there be a significant effect even if there were a handful of non-related links?

Thanks all for your tips and shares. Great.

I think, I will be not wrong to use an thesis theme, who is showing the content first,than the sidebar content. It has a tiny code and easy to set up.

Ok its not an really silo, I will make sort my topics into categorys and then add my post in them. I will not make archives, I think many users dont click on an archive category.

And least, I will set my permalink structur with the category, not without, so it will be spread the link juice from category to the post.The url will be a little bit longer, but I think google loves it and it will be longer rank in the serps.

I think I not go wrong with this.

If you are looking for a good silo plugin however, check out this site - its a little pricey, but the plugin definitely works. I have used it with numerous themes with no problems and good success.

IMO, in the wordpresssiloplugin link you posted. If they are following that link structure in the big blue image on that index page, they are just wrong.

The whole point of silo is to keep a tightly themed group of internal pages. They are linking out of the bottom of silo-a to the silo-b landing page for no reason.

the purpose of the link from cat a to cat b is to direct the spider AFTER it has indexed the relevant pages in the first category.

The whole point of a silo structure is firstly to keep a tightly grouped theme of RELEVANT internal pages, and secondly to guide the indexing bots through the related categories and posts so that your entire site is indexed in a specific manner.

If your site is on a specific niche, ALL categories should be relevant to the main theme of the niche, so the link from cat a to cat b is just as important as the internal link structure ...

I have used this plugin, and I can warrant that it works. Have you?

Are you giving an opinion backed by experience, or are you just making assumptions here?

I haven't used that plugin & never would use it based on the flow they show in their own diagram of the site structure.

Common sense is, don't link to unrelated pages just because you can!

Your saying the only reason to link out of the bottom of silo-a to the silo-b landing page is to get the Google spider to find silo-b, If all silo landing pages have links on the Index page Google spider is guaranteed to find every single page on your site.

I get double/triple SERP listings on multiple sites per keyword so I know what I'm talking about.

I have only seen EXPENSIVE wp silo plugins
one was 147 dollars LOL

as I said Clickbump has a silo Template theme, I got it for free when I ordered

If you know where to look, you can often find them for free ...

I generally do that - find it for free, test it, and if it works, then I'll happily pay the developer his license fee.

I have found too many times that plugins underperform, so am loathe to pay upfront until I can test them and see how they perform.

The silo plugin I was referring to earlier is one that works.
