I still believe in link exchanges (to a certain extent), which I know most of you don't. I was wondering if anyone out there knows of a good forum or website for exchanging links. I don't like websites like Linkalizer, I am looking for higher quality links that are easier to obtain.

Same here. Exchanging links really matter, and it's not just trading links with just anybody else. You must trade links to those websites which contents are closely related to yours.

I agree, I believe in exchanging links, as long as it doesn't account for the majority of your inbound links. Google has filters for "excessive" reciprocal links, but they can be beneficial within a multi-faceted link building approach.

Bah. I don't believe in link exchange. Three of my sites are PR5 (in under 2 yrs), without ever participating in link exchanges.

because you have PR5 and not participating in link exchanges doe snot mean link exchange is useless... you might have used other methods as effective as link exchange...

From my experience, link building is the most effective way of increasing ranking. Personally I don't fall for PR anymore. It used to be important but a little outdated nowadays unless its PR5 and up.
Link exchanges can be a very useful tool in link building. Its important though to keep it 3 way / 4 way and make sure the link you receive is from a page with low links density.

Link exchange can help you only if you exchange it with a relevant website and authority website. But i think exchanging link with usual websites that don't rank high on Google, is not useful.

The best website I have found for exchanging links is uklinkexchange.co.uk because it actually lets you search for relevant websites and talk to the owner.

It also doesn't try to add the links automatically using php/asp

The only problem is its aimed at the UK and there is no way of arraigning 3 way links.

Sorry to bust you man but it doesn't really work nowadays... Link exchange is NOT dead but it really depends on who you're exchanging it with.

If you need more juice for your website I'd say go look for blogs that allow you to do guest postings, or even, ask blog owners if they need unique content & you can be their guest poster.

I have made some good trades on http://linkexchangeforum.net a Link Exchange Forum where Webmasters can find Link Partners.

It is a pretty focused / targeted link exchange forum.

Link Exchange Benefits include its cost-effectiveness, efficiency and the added advantage of avoiding the burden of advertising expenses. Both outward, as well as inward links must be from pertinent websites of quality. Creating and sustaining your own links page is part of Link exchange benefits. Besides, it is possible to introduce the existing links page and confirm that partner websites continue to retain their link with your site.

I have checked many sites that most of the back links of those websites are exchanging links only. At the same time it will work in a fast way to give good position for our site.

I accept that link exchange is working even today as a best tool in link building

Do not use link exchange forums. Google looks down on link exchanging; they view it as artificial manipulation.

So Google algorithmically discounts two way linking (link exchanges), and Google's webspam team looks for places where link exchanging takes place and very often penalizes sites that take part in it. Any sort of public purchasing or trading of links is looked down upon by Google.

Link exchanges are old school. Never needed or did one myself. Problem with link exchanges is that it takes too much time and manual effort, if you want to get a decent stream of links flowing in.

There are much better solutions out there to building a good link profile for your site.
