Optimization How far is too much?

Hi guys!

I've got a question that's gotten some general responses but perhaps I can get some solid feedback.

My question is as follows.

#1) Is Traffic source to Landing Page optimization going to far? as in determining that Google PPC works on lander Version A better but, Pulse 360 Works on lander C. And also Email works better on C Than A or B.

#2) Or run a Blend of everything and get the "overall best"

I've been getting mixed responses some say it won't matter much. But separating each source and determine what works best is it something worth to do? or just run a Blended Run and get the best results overall?

That sounds like a backwards approach, instead of testing different traffic sources for a given page, usually landing pages are optimized for the traffic source you have choosen, a different style of page would be appropriate for first time contacts from PPC ads than for an email subscriber responding to a particular promotion.

While I do understand the design is related to the source, and the goal you want to achieve.

      But on an experimental level.

You Take X #'s of landers Plug them into 1 Source Determines Lander 5 works best for Google example.

You take same landers plug in for Email determines Lander 4 as the best.

Or taking them all and a blended result. The landers aren't used for leadgen rather a Sale and Upfront cost no trials so There is some design variation and function 2 Step process vs a 3 Step. So both were made for the same goal just use a different way of converting the user.

What i'm trying to determine is that would the 3 Step lander work better or the 2 Step, and my general question lies should I Do a blended Result or Try to be Source Specific on which step works better.

You can NEVER test too much or optimize to much.

Everything you described in your original post can be a total pain in the azz but it's worth it. Just think about it for a second...

If you know that lander A converts better with adwords, and lander B works betters with email lists, then if you just run the 1 lander for both sources you are losing out on a serious amount of money.

Spoken like a True Top Dog Marketer haha

Yeah IT can be pain but we made a program that will do this for us

Okay I was thinking this too, I'll separately test each source with each combinations we have!

      Thanks dude!
