Hey!

I bought an expired domain almost a year and a half ago and I never used it.. I just used it to park a page, this domain was owned by someone else and they were well connected with edu institutes.. the site lost few links but I still have around 500 links pointing to the site but 82 of them are pointing to the main page..the rest are pointing to scattered pages that were on the site before..I have 111 .edu back links poitning to other pages that do not exist anymore.

Should i create the same paths/pages to these pages and redirect the pages to the main site or that wouldn't make a difference and google would know what I am trying to do.. fyi the domain didn't expire.. I bought it from an auction and it maintained its age but other bidders reported to dmoz and dmoz removed me from their listing since the site was down and it was not the original site..

Thanks

If they were strong EDU links worth saving then yes. Just being EDU is not enough.

Does anyone know if DMOZ does any routine checks to the sites they link to? Or do they only remove links if its reported?

yea I am running webmaster tools, the .edu are strong since it came from a page that has no comments and nobody can post anything on it unless it is the publisher from the universities, I changed the website content..I am testing to see if the PR will drop, not sure when was the latest PR update, I know PR doesn't count this time but I gave up on this site so I am using it for testing..as for DMOZ I have no clue if they do random checks, my site was delisted right away so I am assuming the bidders went and complained to DMOZ since they didn't get it lol

Ah so you don't know for sure if it was a report.

People specifically start with sites that have DMOZ links, so I would imagine these links aren't lost each time a site gets put up for bids.

My first thought would be to put up legit content copying or matching the original site so if you are reported immediately you may be spared.

I have seen many sites listed as having DMOZ links, but when I check the actual DMOZ page it is already gone, before the sale is over. Which leads me to believe DMOZ does some of their own checks. Will look into this some more..
