Ranking #1 for multiple high searched keywords, but CTR is terrible!

I have the hardest part done. I've done my keyword research and SEO and have achieved #1 ranking for multiple high searched keywords. I am pulling about 100 UV per day and that number has been going up daily.

I am in a very VERY targeted niche where I know 100% for sure that the niche is not the problem for the low CTR.

I have the clickbump bundle but for the life of me have not figured out a way to make it work for me and get higher CTR. I am constantly under 5% CTR when I should be way way higher than that. Can anyone PM me an example of a high converting adsense site or direct me to a good read about optimal layout/colors/ad style and design?

    the trick is a lousy site where the only option to leave is via the call to action you want them to take.

    I found the biggest negative to adsense eranings is having too informative a site, where they miss the ads and end up not earning me anything :p

        You want over 5%? Sheesh! I assume you are over 1% then? Be happy with that. I would be super excited if I got 2,3, or 4% and you want over 5%?

    Test out your ad placements, ad colors, site color scheme, new themes, etc.
    My site is 5 months old, on the first page for all my main keywords, and I'm still testing adsense placements all the time.

    without a site URL (And I'd be like you, reluctant to give it out) I couldn't comment. Are all your ads below the fold as an example. Have you just cut n pasted the standard code etc. Guessing you know that these are big no no's but without more info tricky to help you out

      There are lots of ways to increase your CTR.

      The best way is to improve the relevancy of ads being displayed to your visitors.

      Do you have interest based ads turned on?
      That's one of the many things you could do and would be a good place to start.

      Can someone please explain the sentence in this post about "cut n pasted the standard code" being a big no no?

    If it's an Adsense type website them maybe look at trying a different theme. Ctr and clickbump seem to be the most popular on here. I started using Ctr about 4 days ago and my click through rate is now between 7-9%. Only problem is that ctr apparently is not supported any more so if you have a problem, there's no support desk. Clickbump has been getting rave reviews as well.

    Also as jimbo said, the less distractions the better. It's nice to have a video section on the site as it makes it look more pleasing to visitors, but at the same time you may end up losing click throughs. I believe strongly in MFR sites with well targeted ad placements and no distractions.....which also means I pass on social bookmarking icons.

      I'm using the clickbump theme but I am completely terrible at setting up the ad style/site design/color choices. I think that is why my site is doing so terrible. Does anyone have an example site that they could show me with good ad design and site design for adsense?

        These live demo sites are designed to show the basic layouts you can achieve with the ClickBump framework. Each site uses a different template skin, but the core markup is the same, so once you know how to configure one template, you can configure them all.

    I agree that an ugly site has a better chance of converting, for the simple reasont hat a site with lots fo content means that they will stay on there for longer reading the info.

    less content and a bit average looking should help, try it out.

    Your site doesn't have to be ugly to get more clicks. Just make it so you don't have a ton of things fighting for the reader's attention.

    What makes you think it "should be" higher than that? Every niche has its unprofitable KWs.

    5% isnt terrible, but are the ads displayed relevant to the KWs visitors are using to search?

    I agree about having too informative a read..also you can try a trick--place part of an article on your site, then have a "dead Link" saying click here for for info--when they click on it nothing happens so they look around and click somewhere else--like your ads..
