PPC "Results" vs Google Analytics "Results"

So can anyone shed any light on the differences between the daily reports I get from Google, Yahoo, Ask and MSN directly and the totals I see on my Google Analytics reports?

I have posted my analytics script near the top of the first page in an effort to properly count even bounces.

However, my clicks as reported from the four big ppc search engines is off by almost 50% from what I see on my analytics report?

In looking at the traffic reports they all are off. MSN is way off and I assume the more obscure "referral" traffic is from Ask/MSN?

Google and Yahoo are close (and easier to see since its almost all search traffic), but still off my 10-20% of what I paid for.

I assume these numbers will always be off by a bit with time, bounces, bad clicks etc. But, I didn't know if this was typically of the "system" or if I needed to start to look for a hole in my bucket.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi BonusPlayer,

There are a number of reasons why those number will never match up.

Th PPC services will send you traffic but there may be times when DNS servers or your webserver is temporarily unavailable or so slow to respond that the user hits the back button before your page loads.

Google analytics relies on the client supporting Javascript. Some users disable javascript in their browsers. Some security products block requests from third party websites.

Another issue is proxy servers and browsers loading pages from a cache.

Tracking services measure what they can, but it is not possible to get 100% accurate data in every case. You should look at your statistics as general indicators and not absolutes.

Tip: By putting your tracking and other scripts at the bottom of your code you may experience lower abandonment because your content will display faster.
