What to do with a site w/2011 in the URL targeting a 2011 keyword?

Hi all,

I made a site that targeted a keyword phrase that included 2011. Used an EMD with 2011 in the URL. Wrote quite a bit of copy.

Site did well enough to try it again next year, and I'd like to replicate it for 2012, targeting the same keyword phrase only (obviously) with 2012 instead of 2011.

What's the best way to do this? Should I leave the site where it is, change all instances of 2011 to 2012, and hope that overrides the domain? I own the URL with 2012 in it - is there a way to redirect the site to that URL to target the 2012 keyword? Some other internet magic I'm not aware of?

Don't want to reinvent the wheel. Would love to take advantage of any links that were built this year and the age of the 2011 domain, but not sure how to do that and target 2012... don't want to rebuild the site from scratch.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Get the 2012 keyword domain and 301 redirect the old domain to the new one

Thanks. Would I then repeat that in 2013, etc.? Just redirect the 2011 AND the 2012 domains there? Does that help pass on the benefits of the domain age & links to the initial 2011 site?

I've been trying to come up with a WAAAY more complicated solution, was wondering if a 301 redirect would do the trick. Gracias!
