Googe Update or what?

My micro niche site disappeared from google 1,5 months ago, my competitor site did the same about a month ago. Now we are both back in first page.
I haven't done much with a homepage, only added a bit content and hired some GIG's do to the backlinks. Was it just google dance or something else? I'm just curious.

    Googles last update was targeted at thin sites which didn't offer much qaulity reader content. By adding more content o your site and having additional backlinking performed your going to help keep your site on the first page, maybe even push it up further if it's not ranking 1-3.
