For someone like me, Building links that point to my website using:

- Blog comments
- Article Submission to Top directories
- Web 2.0 Properties
- Forum posts/profiles
- Directory submission

I am wondering if it is any important to build backlinks to our posted articles on top directories/web 2.0 properties to increase their rank, and thus they will be better backlinks pointing to our money website?

If yes, how do you do it? AMR? or something like high PR blog comments that point to Web 2.0 properties to increase their PR?

Good thinking on the backlinking of your back links. A popular one is back linking article submissions.

I would suggest doing a whole bunch of different types of links to it like forum/profiles/RSS/social bookmarks.

Im quite lazy I dont spend enough time doing that, but I think for a competitive niche, its almost a must.

Yes, you should build back links to your back links. I usually do this with articles where I use 1 link in the resource box to point to a web2.0 property or another article. I kind of do this in a random manner as opposed to any sort of set link wheel pattern. Patterns can be recognized.

IMHO, blog networks like UAW or SEO Link Vine are perfect for backlinking your backlinks as well.

Just make sure you create your system very carefully.

Do not target the same phrases you are trying to rank for on your site within your other properties. You might end up pushing some of your backlink my backlink content higher in the rankings than your own website.

Everyone, thank you so much for your help, I have gotten AMR out of my head. Just one question about above reply, I understand you are pointing to web 2.0 properties, so what anchor text do you use in posts on web2.0 prop?

My strategy was making one post in each web 2.0 property a week, that is 4 posts per month. Unique articles of course. However, only 2 of these posts will have anchor pointing to my website, the other two, one will be a post without link, and one without my targeted keyword. Trying to make diversity..

Yeah it's a good idea. I've stopped using profile links and random blog comments on the money sites. Instead I build relevant pages on wordpress, squidoo, .edu, .gov, etc and and then backlink those with the spammy profiles and blog comments.

You end up a with a cleaner link profile and for new domains you'll bounce around alot less in the serps. Most of those properties end up with a PR2/PR3 by the time I'm done with them.

I also build backlinks on my backlinks. It helps to get more seo juice on my money websites. I use social bookmarks, comments and forum profiles.

You should do the social bookmarking to all your web 2.0 properties.

Keep adding the latest contents to those web 2.0 properties so that they can also get authority in the eyes of search engines.

If your backlinks are strong than you will also get the strong boost.

General rule of thumb that I follow:

Manually created backlinks ---> Point them to my main site.
Automated backlinks (Scrapebox blasts, for example) ---> Point them at my backlinks.

At the very least they'll help index the backlinks. Possibly even boost them up a little. Some people will do this on 3, 4, even 5 tiers of backlinks.
