Hello, I see this Angela name all over. I am wondering is this a real person as in her name is Angela or just a name that is given to high quality backlinks?

      It's a bit of both.

There was a craze of trying to get seo benefit by getting masses of irrelevant links to your website in any way you could and one of the popular ones was by creating profiles on web2.0 sites and forums.

2 WF members saw this demand and decided to sell pdf reports which showed you some of the places where you could go and set up a profile which included a link back to your site.

There were obviously lots of others too (as there always are when people decide they want something), but Angela and Paul (2 different and unconnected people) both started selling these reports showing places to get links along with screenshots of where to click and where to put your image/link etc...

They called these reports "link packets" and sold them on a monthly basis to anyone that wanted to buy them.

There were then also people selling the 'service' of going to the places listed in the link packets and filling them in with your details/website for you.

Because they knew that Angela and Paul's link packets were popular they offered their services as "I will build you Angela/Paul link packets" so that people could easily understand what they were offering.

For many people these links were pretty much useless and with the last year of Google algorithm updates many people have stopped using this strategy but as with all IM things, while there are still people looking to buy them - there will still be people ready to sell them.

I don't know whether Angela and Paul actually still sell these or not, but their names have become synonymous with that type of link building, at least in IM forums.

        The internet never forgets.

There's probably a bazillion ebooks/blogs promoting outdated info.

I've never quite understood why they were marketed as "high PR" backlinks. A link on a PR N/A profile page isn't the same as a link from a PR5 page, obviously.

Forums are still a GREAT resource though. For traffic. Joining a handful of high traffic forums in your niche and becoming a legitimate poster can help drive some very targeted traffic to your site via your sig. It's a tried and true method that has been around forever, and will be around forever.

There is nothing "natural" about them. Go dig through Best Buy's backlinks and let me know how many profile links you find. Or MSN, Huffington Post, Wal-Mart, Wikipedia, Mashable, ESPN, Yahoo Sports, etc.
