Dear warriors,

*I wish to build a authority site for a sub niche. For now I have a domain name which consist the name of this sub niche with a prefix.

*I am mainly targeting to write product reviews for the products in this niche and to brand this domain to product reviews for this sub niche.

*Apart of this I plan to add useful content related to this niche (other than the specific product reviews)

Eg:- Common mistakes in choosing products of this niche
Why should use a product of this niche.

While I have all these plans I got following doubts.

1. My understanding is I should use only product specific keywords in product reviews. Is it right?

2.Main keywords (Eg:- "MYniche Reviews", "top 5 myniche products", "best MYniche Reviews") which are not specific to a product but applies to all this sub niche are should be optimized in the content articles. Is it right?

3. Roughly How many main keywords a general sub niche authority site should target?

4. Is it ok to target several keywords in one article?

5. I plan to add links to product review pages from other content articles so roughly how many links a 400 word article can contain?

6. Common mistakes to avoid when creating a authority review site.

7. Your comments on branding a domain for niche product reviews.

Your answers/comments on this would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Seosugar

First of congratz on deciding to create and authority site you are heading in the right direction.

It's hard to say how many categories to target because it all depends on your niche.

If I were you I would first research 50 items to review in your niche. For each page try and find 2-3 main keywords to target and as many long-tail keywords as possible (around 50-60) Once you have this planned out you can then decide on the categories that your going to use.

You may find that they all fall into 4-5 categories or 15-20. It all depends on the products you review and the variety of products available.

      Hi Cyber Rankings,

Thanks for the great valuable info.

Currently I found about 30 products and categorized them into 3 categories.
In my first phase I would focus on this and add more in the future.

And when it comes to keywords I am little bit confused between two different types of keywords as in my original post.
i.e keywords related to niche and keywords related to products it self (mostly these keywords might have the product name.)

That's one of the reason I planned to add some amount of articles which focuses on non product specific keyword.

It's would be great if you can help me to get cleared from this doubt.

      --------------
Further Cyber Rankings you said that ". For each page try and find 2-3 main keywords " does it mean that I can focus on several keywords in a single page?

The first step to an authority site is content. And boat
loads of it. Massive amount of content is what makes one
an authority. People need to have a working definition of
"authority" site. It's not 30 reviews or sub reviews. Those
can rank, but they are not authoritative. cdnet, for an example
        here, is an authority site.

And that domain name thing? Cdnet did not get the memo on
        that one...

          Paul,I guess u meant cnet.com.
          Right?

And also need to know whether you are emphasizing the point that the domain branding may not be significant?

I have had success following the 100k adsense blueprint model. I do research for a keyword using SEMRush. USe whatever tool you want. I target one page for that specific terms. I build links to that term 25-35% for the main term and at least 2-3 other long tail words that include the term I am targeting perhaps in a different order or with an added word or 2. I make sure the URL looks like http://yourdomain.com/keyword. Start building links and if the term is not competitive you should get some decent rankings.

Make sure you have 400-600 words written on the topic on that specific page.

I have also had success purchasing smaller sites on flippa and then expanding them to include other terms and increasing their revenue significantly.

            Good luck!

I would create maybe 20-30 pages all targeting a single keyword theme (per product).

The way you lure traffic is by giving theme something free that is 100% related to the payed product.

Example, If my payed product was basketball shoes, I would give away a bunch of free content on basketball playing tips.

Yes,This is what I am planning with my non product review articles.
But I never planned 20-30 pages/product (HUGE!!!!!!) all targeting a single keyword theme (per product).

Instead I planned about 50 articles which gives general free information related to this niche.(not targeting per product).

      Please correct me in this.
