Hi guys,

Obviously I would love to be on the first page in google for my chosen keywords; however firstly I would just settle for being in the top 100 for starters. At the moment I am nowhere. Hy keywords are;

Self Help Books
Self Help Audio

I have the whole day now to get my site in google for these phrases, so please offer any advice you can as I would love to have them indexed in the next 24hours if at all possible.

If you want your sites indexed in 24 hours, then the best way to do it is to bookmark your pages to the top social bookmarking sites. Here is a list of some of the sites you should submit to to get your page indexed in 24 hours maximum (sometimes as little as 15 minutes):

    Digg
    Propeller
    Del.icio.us
    Mister-Wong
    Furl
    StumbleUpon
    Backflip
    Spurl
    Buddymarks
    Connectedy
    Bookmark Tracker
    Linkagogo
    MyVMarks
    Jumptags
    MyLinkVault
    Bookmark Tracker
    A1-Webmarks
    Oyax

There are many others to submit to, but if you bookmark your site at these bookmarking sites you will guaranteed get indexed in 24 hours, often in just minutes. Make sure you bookmark with your keywords in the title of the bookmark and in the description. Also include your keywords in the tags, including your secondary keywords.

The top 3 to submit to out of the above are Digg, Propeller and Del.icio.us. Those are definitely the best.

However, you might want to target some lower competition keywords first, as those are pretty competitive words to target right off the start. I would advise you begin by targeting low competition, more targeted keywords and build backlinks to your site and work your way up to the broad keywords you are currently targeting.

    Hope that helps

Thanks for your help. I have stated submitting to all those, but for some reason I could get an account at digg. Is there a service I can use to do digg for me?

I use SEnuke to do all my social bookmarking and a few other things basically automatically. There is a link in my signature where I have written a page about it.

You can get a 7 day free trial of it and at least use it to get your site indexed and get some backlinks to your site. It is easy to use, and I have used it to get me quite a few good rankings.

There are a few bugs with it right now, as some of the websites have changed recently, but an update is coming out in a day or so that is supposed to fix all the bugs. (The guys are great at getting the bugs fixed fast). I don't want to sound promotional, but that is what I use to get my rankings.

    Hi burtie,

If you got all day then there's no problem.

Get on over to Google Adwords, get an account if you don't already have one. Login and setup your first campaign, create an ad group for each keyword, write a couple ads for each keyword, set your bids at the recommend bid suggest by the budget optimizer and within a hour you should be on the first page of Google.

Enjoy the rest of the day by watching traffic pour into your website.

Now, if you were looking for a first page listing in the organic results, you have your work cut out for you. You have a good deal of strong competitors and it'll probably take months of work to get there.

You can start the process by getting Google's Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide!

I'd say that's a bit too simple, there's simply too much to take into account there, Adwords is very useful but I believe it's such a powerful tool, the market will trend to make companies exclusively dedicated to positioning websites on google. It isn't that easy for me

        Hi johnsonkyle25,

That post was meant to be an overly simplified explanation, after all the OP said he had a whole day to work on getting on page one of SERP for a couple of highly competitive keywords. It really is that simply if you have any idea what you are doing.

Let me make it even simpler, hit the easy button by hiring a pro and your done.

I think with Adwords this will be costy but effective!
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[477293].message }}
  • How much commission do you get for these Books? I just looked at the first :Self-Change Hypnosis. It costs about $20 and if Amazon pays 5%, your commission would be $1. Not much room for advertising I guess.
Raanking in the serps is also not easy. All these titles have quite broad keywords. Even when there are only a 1.000 competitors it will be difficult to outrank them. You need a lot of backlinks.
Every website under the search term "Self-Change Hypnosis" has this keyword in their content. Most of them probably in a higher percentage than you. There are 2 ways to get on the first page: Having more backlinks/PR or being more relevant than the others. (The latter works only with weak competitors.) I don´t think you are more relevant than the others since all others also have that keyword in their content. Your keywords for this page according to your metatags are:
<meta name="keywords" content="self help, self improvement, reviews, ratings, hypnosis, meditation," />
Self-Change Hypnosis isn´t even one of them.
What I would do if I want to sell this kind of merchandise is looking for an easy keyword. Low competition and difficult for building into a webpage content. (Unfortunately I can´t give you an example since I´m in Europe and don´t get the same Google pages as in The US. I can´t see the number of competitors) An imaginable difficult (difficult to build into a content) keyword combination could be instead of "self improvement" "improvement self". (I don´t know if this combination exists in Google/gets any searches. Just an example to give you the idea) Search results are broad match results and most, if not all, competing websites are probably optimized for "self improvement". If your content is optimized for "improvement self" you have an advantage and can get on the first page with minimal effort. But only with low and weak competiton. Make a page with that content and try to sell the book with this content.

Also, write some articles on ezinearticles.com. If you include your reference to your site, you'll help it get indexed better. Also try writing articles at ehow.com, and helium as well. But yeah I agree social bookmarking is fast. My site is like four months old, and I haven't been extremely diligent in promoting it, and already I have a PR2. Mostly I owe this to articles and social bookmarking.

Are you serious or joking? Hope your joking.

Link exchanges are a waste of time. 2 way linking doesnt carry weight in Google anymore because they arnt natural. Always get one way links from related sites, they carry the most weight.

Googles spam team are hunting down and killing sites that buy or sell links. Very risky if you buy from an unrelated site and they advertise that they sell links. Hard for Google to detect if the link is bought from a related site.

CPA, how did you come to the conclusion that one PR 5 backlink will get them the top ranking for "self help books" . Is it because the current number 1 has a PR 4, but what about amazon at number 2 with a PR 6. PR shmeare, it doesnt mean much anymore. With the Authority and trust of the top websites, can pretty much say it would be a mammoth task to outrank them for those general keywords.

Much, much easier to rank for longtail key phrases and people searching longtail key phrases are much more inclined to open the wallet and buy because they know what they are looking for. Could maybe target specific titles of self help books.

The fastest and easiest way i know to build good one way backlinks is by using Unique Article Wizard - Submit Unique Content to Hundreds of Websites, its very handy.

submitting a google sitemap through Google Webmaster tools is also a great way to get your site indexed fast. Spider will be at your site within 15 - 20 mins if you do that.

      Thanks all for your suggestions.

Been working all day on them.

I have just tried SEnuke after one of you suggest it. I will see how this goes and keep working on getting to #1 :p

I will let you know how SEnuke goes... Not too excited about it at the moment, but I will give it a fair trial.

I would definately expand my keywords. Try some longer tail keywords that may have less competition.

The advice to bookmark and write articles is right on - but dont expect to wake up tomorrow and be highly ranked - especially for those two high competition keywords.

Dburk, you left out one key ingredient to your adwords plan: have a large pile of cash to burn through. Adwords is by far the fasted way - you can have traffic 15 minutes from now if you have never run an ad or marketed a thing in your life, but it will cost you and you will most likely waste every penny of it unless you know what you are doing.

So far, social bookmarking has been so effective for me regarding this wish to be on the first page... Automatic submission to social bookmarking sites is fast but I prefer manual submission as I can play with keywords in ever submission..
