Good day Warriors

I am seeking advice with regards to domain names and SEO.

I understand that a keyword related domain name is good.

My question is with regards to sub domains.

Is www.mykeywordsubdomain.abc.com any use for SEO

eg www.health.abc.com

where abc has no keyword value.

All opinions appreciated

Thanks

Jim

Not all keyword-related domain has value... Everything depends on promotion and seo activities..

Take a look at this example"makemoney online" key phrase... the 3rd result is never related to the searched keyword.

There are thousands of blogspot blogs ranking very high for highly competitive keywords, means you got a pretty good chance if you do optimizing and link building...

      Many thanks for your replies.

I did check the link you supplied solidsnake and got my answer.

Checked out other keywords also to confirm.

So it would appear keyword related content is a very important aspect of getting good ranking.

If the domain you want is still available then go with it...

Hi, I agree that your keyword should be in your domain name, but again it's not the end of the world. My domain name is traffic, but I offer computer, cars, travel and other tips...so next time around I will find a domain name with my keyword.

The domain market is tough and a lot of domains have been bought up for prime keywords.

The method I use when searching for a prime domain name is this. First, I use the Google External keyword tool and type in my chosen keyword or keywords. Then when I look at the results, I find one to three keyword combos that I like that refer to my product or website well. I then do 2 things. First I go to Google itself and type in each keyword combo and see what the results are and if the domain name I am serching for is listed for those keywords. If it isn't, I then know I have a shot at getting it listed in the top 3 results. (I can get any domain in the top 3 of long tails keywords easily). Then I go to Who.is and see if the domain is taken or not. A lot of times with prime keywords, if the domain is not listed in the search results, it might be because it is listed for sale by domain brokers at a high price, thus nobody buys it. So in effect, the only domain available might be a dot net (.net) instead of a dot com (.com) domain.

I regularly purchase .net's and get them listed number one for domains this way.

Take a look at it and see if it works for you.

Or even simpler use your choice of keyword/anchor text in the title and simply add

    fromabcd.com (Use Company Initials) example

I want a blue widget web address but all the best are taken - my firm is called John Widget Co - so my url would be www - dot - bluewidgetsfromJWC dot com

Then build a page on John Widget Co or whatever, and iternally link it, then link it by the normal methods. And then SEO as normal - simple!
